Germany not approving AZ for over 65s

Not sure I understand the logic here. OK Germanies premise is that there is insufficient data to verify efficacy in over 65's.

I believe in the AZ clinical trials only 8% that were over 65? Not that the vaccine had 8% efficacy in over 65s as was reported in Germany.

So, ok I get that. But Germany like many countries has a shortage of vaccines.

So for over 65s are they planning on only giving the pfizer vaccine, also in short supply, or not vaccinating them at all?

Someone might know the answer.

Try emailing Von Der Leyen. She's got her finger on the pulse. Or was it up her arse?

There may be a mix around here from people we know but very incomplete info so pass. Both seem to be about but who gets what and why no idea at all.

;) My wife doesn't meet all of her cronies at the moment otherwise I might have a theory. Seems I am getting pf.

The EU have so far not approved the Oxford AZ vaccine but all the same they are demanding we send them millions of doses! Why ?? Are they just spitefully trying to deny us our own vaccine - glad we are out of the cesspit.

Games and politics, and trying to **** us over. Sneaky scum, we're well out of it.

German response to Oxford vaccine is unfair blow for UK scientists and will cause needless worry (msn.com)

Europe needs to make up its mind. First it dithers over ordering supplies of the Oxford vaccine, then it complains it cannot get enough of it.

Now Germany has called into question its very effectiveness, refusing to use it on the people who need it the most, adding insult to potential injury.

It is tempting to see this as a political posturing or an attempt to deflect the fact that the AstraZeneca supply row means they could not vaccinate all the over-65s with the Oxford jab even if they wanted to.

But it’s an unfair blow for British scientists and regulators who have carried out rigorous trials and assessments to make sure the vaccination is safe and effective for the most vulnerable in our society.

And it will also cause needless worry to the millions of people who have already received the Oxford vaccine, or who are about to get it.

It's from the Telegraph, Johnson's personal propaganda rag.

It's because they are not convinced by the very limited testing data relating to over 65's.
So, yes, for now they will not be using the AZ vaccine on over 65's.

Just for clarity. It wasn't Germany that made the mistake about the 8% efficacy. It was a German media that made the mistake. German government actually corrected them.
Now, for those that claim Germany made that claim that the efficacy was only 8%, unless you believe that Germany do, or should control their media, perhaps you'd be good enough to correct your mistake.
And while we're at it, for all those that claimed that EU made the false assumption, the same applies. If you think that EU do or should control German media, perhaps you'd be good enough to correct your mistakes.

There decision...The UK can make its own choice.

Where is the distinction between the two?..Which individuals are " Germany" and which are " German media" do you know the people involved personally?
