Where is the distinction between the two?..Which individuals are " Germany" and which are " German media" do you know the people involved personally?
Germany = German government.
German media = German newspapers, digital press, etc.

It's because they are not convinced by the very limited testing data relating to over 65's.
So, yes, for now they will not be using the AZ vaccine on over 65's.

Just for clarity. It wasn't Germany that made the mistake about the 8% efficacy. It was a German media that made the mistake. German government actually corrected them.
Now, for those that claim Germany made that claim that the efficacy was only 8%, unless you believe that Germany do, or should control their media, perhaps you'd be good enough to correct your mistake.
And while we're at it, for all those that claimed that EU made the false assumption, the same applies. If you think that EU do or should control German media, perhaps you'd be good enough to correct your mistakes.

Doesn't answer the question. Also after the outlet in question were informed of their error they decided to repeat it.

Is the AstraZeneca vaccine less effective in elderly people?

DW fact check: Inconclusive. The elderly belong to the high-risk group. Any diminished efficacy could have fatal results. According to reports in the Handelsblatt daily and the tabloid Bild, the vaccine's efficacy in the 65 and over age group is just 8%.

However, the facts are unclear. The German Health Ministry has contradicted those claims and suggested the source for that figure had mixed up their numbers. "At first glance, it appears that two things have been confused in the reports: About 8% of the subjects in the AstraZeneca efficacy study were between 56 and 69 years of age, and only 3 to 4% were over 70 years of age," a spokesperson said.

Surely you can see the difference between German media companies and the German Government?

It's been covered by the media so all is it seems.

Germany noticed that no older people caught covid during AZ testing. Our response is yes but antibody levels were monitored on all and the response was good in older people and the young. Then comes the fact that Pfizer is a German developed product but I believe it wasn't a German who came up with the way to get it to work in the human body and a German Turk was also involved. Not sure if he was German.

:) The USA reckon China's vaccine is 50% effective so China looked at one of theirs and concluded it was 50% effective as well. If China and Russia compared theirs they might come to similar results. The USA would probably say Russia's is useless without any data or that both countries stole it. I heard a murmur that one european country is going with the Russian one.

hungary,

they got fed up waiting for the EU.

More likely reacting to supply problems - quickly.

The Brexit aspects are interesting. When we signed our contract we were in it. While in it their is no reason why a country shouldn't do it's own thing in areas like this as all have their own approval bodies - eg Germany currently a bit different to EU based approval.

Whoops other than full EU info wont be available until later today.
