Good riddance tobacco!

Smoking stinks.

Surely thats a good enough reason.

Their homes.

Their cars.

Fag ends.

As trays.

Breath.

Clothes.

You wanna cling onto that disgusting old pastime, then go wallow in your cancer causing, smelly tar ridden baccy smoke and keep it away from any sprogs.

Don't you just love to see attractive young people pulling out a fag and copying mom and dad.

Must make all you smokers REAL proud. Good on ya.

Advertising, marketing, sponsorship, glossy packaging are all intended to attract new customers. So these are the things that are being attacked
Sadly, these things have almost gone. ....

Sadly, he says

Sad that the mechanisms to recruit children to the addiction are being whitttled away.

It's an habit nose, cool down don't you think most would like to give up and save loads and have better health?.

Giving smoking up is harder than giving smack up, ive seen it.

recruiting children to form the next generation of addicts is not a habit

it's an obscene crime.

Noseall, I'll wallow all I'll like, mate. Your forgetting the bigger picture. The eventual banning of smoking is just the thin end of a rather large wedge. One which I have already pointed out. You keep banging on about the perils of smoking (which I fully know about, believe me on that) . I'm just pointing out things which you seem to dismiss. like the losing of our freedom to do things which we can legally do.
Successive governments , won't be happy until we're all under their thumb. Just remember, governments are elected to do our bidding, not the other way round. A fact many seem to be unable to get their heads round.

John D, yes I did say sadly. Perhaps the wrong word, but think of the loss to sports from such sponsorship, then look at the sponsors of the Olympics. McDonalds, Coca Cola. Yep real healthy stuff involved there ehh.

but think of the loss to sports from such sponsorship,
yes, think of all the advertising from all that "sponsorship"

All of it intended to boost sales of tobacco by creating a false impression of a glamorous, desirable lifestyle, and linking fags with sport in the impressionable minds of potential addicts.

McDonalds, Coca Cola. Yep real healthy stuff involved there ehh

Are you saying that if you had your way, you'd ban unhealthy foods? Or are you just trying to suggest it would be a good idea? Or are you just spouting meaningless nonsense?

You're the one obsessed with banning. I'm just interested in reducing the number of children who are enticed into becoming the addicts of the future. You don't seem to think that's wrong.

The smoking is a habit john not recruiting kids.
The "habit" post came into a response to a post about impressionable children being encouraged to become the addicts of the future.

It was, as you point out, very wrong of you to say it was a habit.

And just where do you think the drug dealers (in almost every town and city) get their next drug users from? If you guessed Secondary school, you'd probably be wrong.
The legal age when one can possess smoking paraphernalia is 16. Purchase is legal at the age of 18.
There's no legal age where one can purchase or possess cannabis, heroin , crack cocaine, ecstasy, etc, etc

I don't see the outcry about drug dealers encouraging their next victims on here , do you ?

I have already pointed out the concerns of both government and health professionals. Do you seriously think if they get the whole nation to stop smoking, they'd just stop there, for health concerns? If you do, your deluded.
Nowhere have I said I'd encourage the next generation to smoke, all I have said is that future governments etc won't just stop at smoking, they'll carry on with other unhealthy issues and target them (whilst raising taxation at the same time)

This is a thread about smoking

By all means go and start your own thread about illegal drugs.

Your attempt to distract attention from tobacco addiction is transparent and worthless.

oh, I see you've just added "Nowhere have I said I'd encourage the next generation to smoke".

Would you like to add that you want to discourage them, like I do?

I have not tried to distract anyone's attention from tobacco addiction. Quite honestly , the way you bang on about it, you seem to be one of these ex smoking hypocrites, who then go on to condemn, those still addicted. An "I'm better than thou "attitude. Well keep thinking your better than I am, Just remember, everyone will die sometime. In death we are all equal.

I haven't wasted my time trying to prevent you smoking yourself into an early grave.

I'd certainly discourage them from smoking.
However I would not discourage someone from exercising their right to partake of anything the government has deemed legal (think, drinking, eating ) etc. etc
edit,,
Perhaps I'm thinking of freedom of choice (something that seems completely alien to you )

I'd certainly discourage them from smoking.

Hooray! At last you've said it! So you wouldn't want tempting adverts, colourful fag packets, glamorous models, racing cars or sportsfolk to be promoting them in order to encourage youngsters into viewing fags as an attractive lifestyle choice.

Your snide remark about freedom of choice is reprehensible. Run back and read my posts. I've repeatedly said that if you want to smoke yourself into an early grave, that's your choice.
