Good riddance tobacco!

Do you condone heroin and crystal meth use on the same basis?

Not them again?
You tell me. You're talking about behavour and mind altering drugs (I know of someone who killed his own 6 month old son after a bad trip).

I've yet to see a smoker do likewise. I've yet to see a smoker get roped into gangland warfare and prostitution ... they're pretty boring really by comparison. All I do is go to work and pay my taxes.

I wouldn't bother Killerheels.

JohnD will just continue to attribute opinions to you, you never said, and quote you out of context.

You may as well quit, boom boom tish.

wow, I'm stunned that in your world, no smokers use illegal drugs or are involved in gangland warfare and prostitution

how can I get to your world?

Or is it just a world of fantasy?

(yes it is)

But 100,000 of them die every year. I guess they are some kind of thick underclass that is too weak to break their addiction and too dumb to care.

The fact that smoking is not the only undesirable thing in the world is no excuse for wanting to keep it going.

Nor are three or four car families but I don't see them been restricted or legislated against ... YET.
I still think your missing the point. Who will be next?
Yes .. smoking is unhealthy and I agree with the no smoking ban in pubs. I wouldn't want to inhale smoke if I wasn't a smoker.
I don't like to inhale exhaust fumes. I get sick of stepping over lumps of drinker's vomit on the pavement but I don't complain because I know I'm not perfect myself.
The goverment happen to be going for smokers, that's all, and rousing people like you into a crusading spirit.
And next they'll declare war on the next group of social lepers.

I don't drive or drink and I'm thin so they can only nail me the once.

Now you're been silly.
You might as well say that those involved in gangland warfare drive cars, drink alcohol ... are riddled with sexually transmitted diseases and spread them like wildfire ... but that will be okay as long as they don't smoke!

And JohnD, my love, you can come into my world anytime! No hard drugs, booze or gun toting crimminals or come to that, sex ... just some boring filter tips. I must say you have a rum view of what smoker's get up to :p

Are you under the impression that Noseall or I are talking about a ban?

Haven't you grasped yet that we are talking about steps to make the addiction less attractive so that it wastes away?

Surely you don't disagree with my desire to prevent the continuing stream of youngsters being recruited as new addicts to keep the tobbacco trade in business?

The biggest cause of cancer in this country is atmospheric pollution.
Are you sure? Can't see anywhere at the moment, can you show me evident that's stating this?
Perhaps the control freaks should be banning cars, buses, planes, lorry's, and anything else that burns petrol and diesel.
They are getting there, when I used to work in the refinery, it's now all clean air pollution environmental friendly units as they have to follow the Government Clean Air Act. They have spent millions doing this upgrade. Now we have electric cars hitting the market, diesel now have cleaner diesel because of the control of ultra low sulfur diesel clean air act. Have you noticed there're many cars that don't have to pay or very little road tax duty because the reduce carbon monoxide emissions.

So when the Government tried to control smoking problem, the smokers are not happy!

I hear what you're saying ... so the world is a healthier place.
Sorry JohnD but your pulpit is on very shaky ground.
You lost all credibility when I asked you if you drove a car
And you replied ....
JohnD said:
My lifestyle is none of your business and is irrelevant to the fact that smoking is unhealthy ...

Do you think that smoking becomes more healthy, or less, depending on whether I drive a car or not?

Or it is totally irrelevant to the health dangers of smoking, as I assert?

And just an attempt to get smoking out of the spotlight?

Are you going to say if you agree with my desire to prevent the continuing stream of youngsters being recruited as new addicts to keep the tobacco trade in business?

If you've got good evidence of that, you could start a thread about it.

We already have excellent evidence of the damage to health caused by smoking, which is what this thread is about.

Or are you trying
the "X" is bad therefore I should do "Y" which is also bad
argument?

My Uncle died of lung cancer age 37 never smoked.

My half sister died of lung cancer age 21 never smoked.

I shall be 70 next year and smoked for over 50 years.

Perhaps living in the country all my life whereas they lived in a town center, No lets blame cigarettes.

You go jogging or running in the country during the mad rush for the city dwellers to get where they're going in the morning, trust me you have a job to breath.

If someone could look up and say that fag will kill you, they'd have to ban them immediately, but they can't, and they certainly can't afford to loose the revenue, so is Gov.con playing with peoples lives.

Well there you have it.

Do it all has just proved 'em all wrong! Carry on smoking and lets get our kids doing it too.

Sorry but no.

My future kids will be to busy taking meph, cocain, alcahol and eating fatty foods, can't afford to get them smoking as well, not enough time in the day.

Secondhand smoke kills 600,000 worldwide annually.

So what you're saying is, you're better off smoking?

You can run but you cannot hide the fact you're not doing yourself any favour with your health in the long run.

See my earlier post regarding the clean air act.
You're trying very hard to justify that you're better off smoking to hide your guilt because deep down you know it's not good for you and like most smokers turning a blind eye.
