Must admit I've had a fair few disagreements with BAS, usually due to our personal political viewpoints. That said, I have, in the main, enjoyed his company because he is, without doubt, one of the most interesting and colourful people on here, the forum will definately be worse off should this be true.
I don't think any particular member could have driven him away, but it did appear his problems with the Mod's were getting him down.

There was a post earlier today by bas, stating that he'd had some grief with the mods and the site owner and so he'd decided to leave the forum. I haven't checked the topic list but apparently the post has been removed. Wouldn't be surprised if this one goes the same way. Better watch what we post, ooooer.

The attitude of the Mods on this site is Bizzare. BAS may be pedantic but most of what he says is clearly OTT and there is no need to take him any more seriously than some of the other regulars who clearly go out of their way to wind him up. I haven't noticed the MOds spitting their dummies out over the trolling and baiting that goes on
What's the point of having a general discussion forum and then censoring posts based on some absurd notion that just because it's a diy site no one can discuss real life or debate issues like adults. I've never seen anything in here worse than the daily output on TV so I just don't buy the "it's an open forum and children might see it argument". Given the drivel that's spouted by most of the Media nowadays this is one of the few places where you can still actually learn something.
I only post in here because I don't have the skills to post in the other forums and it's just a bit of light entertainment but it's obvious that a lot of regulars in here do post in the other forums and come here to blow off steam. It's a bit of payback for them for the free time and advice they give.
Mr DIY site owner whoever he is wouldn't have a site without the regulars, frankly he should be paying them a salary given the traffic they generate. All I can say is that if ****ing off the likes of BAS is the best he can do it's a funny way to run a business.

The reason behind ban leaving was the mods ignoring any attempt to communicate with them and simply deleting any posts that so much as asks them a reasonable question.
The way I understand is ban was told that he could ask questions and expect them to be answered only to have the threads deleted yet again.
The principle of being lied to by deleting his threads after being told it was OK to ask was the final straw.
The fact that his goodbye posts were locked and subsequently deleted was another act which imo was uncalled for, especially for someone who has over the years put so much into the site.

Nor have I ever argued with b-a-s. Whilst there have been a number of times when he's disliked something I posted, and attempted to challenge my statements, he has never succeeded in demonstrating me to be wrong.
Frankly, b-a-s has turned winding-up-mods from an obscure art into a form of painstaking and forensic science. How can it be any surprise to anyone that they continue to delete his questions, least of all to him?
His claim that he believes the moderators to have changed their policy is just a barefaced lie - the very behaviour that he despises in other members. I don't know about you, but the phrase "breathtaking hypocrisy" leaps immediately to my mind.
The recent toy-from-pram ejection episodes are, IMHO, less to do with the forum and more to do with personal circumstances. With that problem I sincerely empathise, and I wish for it to be resolved, irrespective of any decision regarding the forum.
