how would you uphold law and order?

so you agree that experts know more about their subject matter than you? so what about rule makers? you know more than they do?
I've never claimed that those working in the field don't...

But I'll certainly argue my case about those who set the 'rules'!

so it is just a 'power' thing with you then? rules are set by learned people, be it judges, or councils, or governments... where do you see a weakness? i presume you vote? thereby accepting these terms?

Absolutely nothing wrong with information about individuals being kept on databases. How would building societies/ credit card companies, banks etc give people mortgages/loans etc, if they knew nothing of their credit worthiness? (perhaps you'd rather , everyone lived in social housing) How would an insurance company know if you'd passed your driving test, or had 20 yrs accident free years?. How would the police track known sex offenders and paedophiles, upon release from prison? (Oh I forgot, you seem to think most people in prison are innocent)
How would hospitals know whether people were allergic to penicillin/ anaesthesia, etc, without medical records?
If you don't give your bank details to your employer, how on earth are they to pay you? Almost everyone is paid straight into bank accounts these days

You seem to forget the usefulness of personal information, to other interested parties, and point out only the bad things about personal information in the wrong hands.

If you believe that 'rules are set by learned people', then it explains your ignorance...

But I'll give you a small hint...ask yourself who will benefit from a particular 'rule', and that might give you an insight into why that particular 'rule' is brought in...

As for voting...why condone illegal statutes?

There is nothing wrong with the minimum of personal information being held by various organisations...but it has to be RELEVANT to the purpose it is held for.

This is often the mistake that those who apparently claim they have 'nothing to hide' make!

Would you, for example, tell your bank your medical history?

Can you give us a specific example of a law brought in to benefit a particular person or group of people? (apart from the obvious Human Rights Act designed to protect criminals, asylum seeking criminals and HR lawyers incomes)
(and not the Race Act either, designed to protect, coloured against white. But never implemented the other way round) ;) ;)

Showing your true 'colours' a bit too obviously aren't we!... ;)

But just to humour you - think about any privatisation bill...

Martian, it's a complete waste of time trying to have any sort of debate with this person. He answers questions with questions, assuming we'll bow down to his supposed greater knowledge of all things Law. He says he gives us "Hints", but they're just more questions.

I could well imagine ellal being made redundant and going to sign on........

At The Dole Office......
"Good morning sir, and can I have your name please?"
"Why do you want my name?"
"Well sir we need to know who you are."
"Ahh, but why do you need to know who I am? "I know who I am."
"Yes sir, I know you know who you are, but we need to know."
"How do you know that I know who I am then?"
"Because you just told me."
"Err, err, No I didn't."
"You most certainly did."
"How do you know I said that? Have you been taping our conversation?"
"Ok sir, could you tell me your national insurance number then?"
"Why do you want my national insurance number?"
"Because we need it sir, for our database."
"Ahh, but I don't want my details kept on a database, I could be arrested and falsely imprisoned."
"Why could you be falsely imprisoned sir?"

"Well, who's to say I couldn't be?"

"Good day Sir,,, and close the door quietly on your way out."

;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

He wouldn't though, once they have his DNA on the database, he'd become even more paranoid and sink into deep depression. Probably end up in a padded cell with chemical cosh injected daily. ;) ;) ;)

Aww come on Admin, read the posts in context, you'll see who starts the abuse (and doesn't get admonished for it. )

Too right jj...

ima(idiot) started it.... ;)

Edit: (just for ima)

I expected a lot of suggestions from all these police haters... like yourself

Seems like there's a whole load more of them now...

Government 'hates the police'

Makes a change to the police treating the public "like cattle" I suppose - but nice to know they seem to think they now know how some of us feel !
