Hydrogen to heat homes a terrible idea: Gov to keep funding it.

But it's not all evil green industry people saying they're good. Loads of completely normal people have them and are happy.

SOME have terrible heat-pump systems that don't work well, and they make a lot of noise about it. There are crap cars, doesn't mean that all cars are rubbish and nobody should buy one. Even a decent heat pump can be installed badly.

There's no sense in manufacturing Hydrogen at massive expense for people to burn, not when heat pumps exist.

I recall when the UK went to all condensing boilers

People changing there old cast iron in efficient boilers for these state of the art steamers

Best thing that happened to the industry
Get rid of them simplistic one moving part low maintenance boilers that chugged away for 20 years plus and put in a steamer that would probably last what 10 years ( at best) plus all the spare parts

What they saved on gas was eaten up on repairs

The big player in the UK market was potterton
Had some thing like 8 engineers covering the entire UK and than they were hard pushed to find them any thing to do

Suddenly there were hundreds of service engineers charging around the country in diesel vans repairing save the planet boilers

Boilers having to be replaced as they were economical to repair meaning more pollution in manufacturing plants

Boilers made cheaper with more plastic components than at a tupper ware party that don’t get recycled

Last time Ineas at the scrappy they had 6 airbdourve heat pumps on the scrap heap

Oh well

A favourite of the genre seems to be a tabloid moan of needing more insulation and bigger radiators because of the lower flow temperatures, these would improve the performance of a gas boiler install too.

Listen to the tree hugging fraternity

It will all be gravy , massive job creation , opportunities etc etc

Yeah right about time they started telling the truth ;) :giggle:
And this classic line spouted by politicians and the like ...

Lower energy bills

Really? I'll believe that when I see it. Bills frequently go up, rarely come down. Actually when you listen to them, they're usually careful to include words such as should, could, might ;)

They still need the tax take from us, needs to come from somewhere. Stop bullsh1tting that green energy and EVs etc equates to low consumer cost. It never does.

Yes but it becomes more critical with ASHP

All the ones we have done are predominantly on under floor systems and the seem to work very well ?? Due to the low temp requirement of under floor heating

Hot water is generally via immersion
Heater ? As a boost ??

Any one with a combi converting to ASHP
Could well have a problem ??

Any grant type ball cocks from government is generally a nightmare with paper work etc and generally favours large install companies

The small self employed guys / companies generally get shafted ( as per usual )

All this green caper will create jobs for waste of space create nothing pencil
Pushers and paper shufflers

The lake source set up we go to is imho kin dire
Def put a coat on in winter all for 250 plus grand

Gardeners cottage off the same system as well but she says nowt because she works there

They were going to take 3 rentals off it told them they would be I’ll advised

2 grand a month rental and In winter all the blokes living there would have to take a slash sitting down :ROFLMAO:

Would you mind translating that?

Property heated by a Lake
Pipes sunk in the bottom of a large lake pumped into 3 x24 Kw heat pumps heating a large prop

Cost over 250,000 £

State of the art shi te imo

Leccy bill must be horrendous ??

chugged away for 20 years plus
Erm, mine’s lasted almost 30 years, and the neighbour’s popped its clogs just short of 38 years.

Ideal mexico.

My plumber says I will save a lot on bills when I change it though.

Blup

No, but he rather likes the old ones for their low/no maintenance, and says the condensers only last 12 years or so with plenty of maintenance in between. The thought of maintenance costs has put me off changing, so it will go on till it fails or the parts are no longer available.

Blup

minute the report said heat pumps are the only viable way to move forward , you know it has been written by halfwits with no real world knowledge
