I drove to France last week and despite what the anti-Brexit scaremongers on here said……

Where in the world do you think my children and grandchildren won’t be able to travel to 'at will' that they could travel to, pre-Brexit?
'at will' ?

The EU/EEA for a start

Do you seriously not understand the restrictions you have imposed on them that you voted for?

What if your grandchildren fancy a trip in Europe that lasts more than three months in a six month period and they fancy doing something like grape picking in France to pay their way to another place?

How are you going to explain to them that it's no longer possible?

Since when has the grape picking season in France lasted as long as 3 months?

Are you really that dumb?

Do you not understand the travel/work restrictions that now apply to UK citizens after brexit?

The restrictions I hoped for when I voted were:
1. Anyone coming to the U.K. to work from the EU, to have a job and a place to live lined up and a permit to carry out that work.
2. Anyone leaving the U.K. to work in the EU, to have a job and a place to live lined up and a permit to carry out that work.
3. When/if the job finishes, the permit expires and they return home.

I'd go further and insist on a full health check and health insurance before granting them a permit. Basically, the same as I had to do when I worked in South Africa 40 years ago. I see nothing wrong with that. Do you?

I’d like to think that if they had the brains and the gumption to spend three months in an EU country, they’d also have the brains and the gumption to know why they can’t spend any longer without an explanation from their grandad.

Thank you...

I get it now...

You want to impose the same restrictions/sanctions on your offspring and their offspring which you happily(?) endured!

But I guess anyone willing to work in an Apartheid South Africa would get a warped sense of values!

What you don't or won't understand is that in the EU/EEA people contribute in their own country and are then entitled to the same local benefits in all the other member countries. And they have to have a permit to carry out a particular job in the country of their choice.

And in EU law, if a person no longer has a job or a place to live they can be made to go back to their country of origin after 3 months.

As for health insurance, paying in to one country is equivalent to paying into all, and thus entitlement to healthcare is universal...

Imagine the case of if by example a resident of Essex (a county that often exports very questionable people) had to undergo health checks to work in another place in the UK. Just think about the communicable diseases that they might take with them that could result in another area's healthcare facilities being brought to their knees!

I’d like to think that if they had the brains and the gumption to spend three months in an EU country, they’d also have the brains and the gumption to know why they can’t spend any longer without an explanation from their grandad.
Ah, so you think it takes 'brains and gumption' alone to broaden a person's horizons?

Not the chance to gain such abilities by unlimited travel?

Methinks you have a problem with individual choice and ability!

But is grandad (if he's still around) going to tell them the truth as to why he has restricted their life chances that he readily enjoyed?

I have a feeling that if they grow up with independent thinking, then the 'R' word may become a question within the conversation! ;)

Our youngsters pick crops? Don't make me laugh.
Not in the UK of course...

But they have been denied the chance to do what I did and opportunities have been lost!

Working for short periods of time in several EU/EEA countries to fund ongoing travel is a great thing...

Different places/experiences is very good and sometimes life changing...

Brexiteers have removed that right, and it is a bloody shame!

Picking cabbages in a damp english field is one thing...

Getting woken up at 5am and being handed a glass of red wine and a chunk of chocolate before a hard day picking grapes is totally different!

Who goes away from uk to work in Europe???
I know several people, one in Holland (coming to an end unfortunately) and an old best mate has been in Switzerland for about 10 years, and another and his wife are in Berlin.

Absolutely. Did me no f'cking harm whatsoever and it ensured that the country I worked in only took in those that were needed and I wasn’t a drain on their housing, health or welfare systems. I was there by invitation only and not as a right. Again, I saw nothing wrong with that and I still don’t.

It's quite obvious where you’re coming from though. You want all those with useless university degrees to be able to have the right to skive off work for a year or so, bumming around Europe doing menial jobs before having to go back to the UK and doing their masters, thus avoiding work for a further period before signing on and getting their Jobseeker’s Allowance. Fûck 'em. They'll have to settle for a gap 3 months now instead of a gap year. Tough titty. :ROFLMAO:

On the brightside without the influx of young brits working in holiday resorts wages for the locals are going up seen a bar in teneriffe offering 25k euros for 40 hours bar work with around 400 euros a month in tips .

That’s a Brexit bonus for them. It doesn’t always have to be about us!

I'm sure you fitted in very well in an Apartheid South Africa...

But the 'f'cking harm' was done to you well before you left to work for that racist regime ;)

Well we can sure see where you are coming from...

A sad old embittered bloke who doesn't want his kids and grandkids to have the opportunities that he took for granted...

And talking of 'jobseekers allowance', how many tens of thousands of pounds did you admit to defrauding the UK taxpayer of?

It was as I recall a case of you admitting to 'work skiving' for a year or so and going on holidays in the EU at everyone else's expense...

Bad Karma is coming for you. Tough titty. ;)
