I drove to France last week and despite what the anti-Brexit scaremongers on here said……

And talking of 'jobseekers allowance', how many tens of thousands of pounds did you admit to defrauding the UK taxpayer of?
Jobseeker’s Allowance - never had a penny of it in my life. Defrauding the U.K. taxpayer? No to that as well but like millions of others in this country, I didn’t take a single penny of furlough payments that I wasn’t entitled to. Sorry if it upset you that I enjoyed getting paid for not working but I’m sure I’m not the only one on here that received that benefit during covid lockdown.

Edit: Actually, thats not entirely true. I’m not the slightest bit sorry that it upset you. I’m over the f'cking moon! :ROFLMAO:

I know several people, one in Holland (coming to an end unfortunately) and an old best mate has been in Switzerland for about 10 years, and another and his wife are in Berlin.
Aaah!
You're talking about the rich part of europe: Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany.
Do you know any British who emigrated to Romania, Poland, Hungary, Portugal, Greece, etc. to work and earn a crust there?
I'm sure there are some, most likely with links to these countries.
My grandchildren might want to emigrate to spaghettiland to taste the "sweet lovely country and people", but I'm sure they wouldn't last long.
Lots of places in Africa offer better working conditions and quality of life.
We have it too good here, take it from one who worked a bit everywhere.

Well, obviously people tend to go the nicer parts!

Is England a rougher part then? Because I know a lot of people who have left to go to nicer parts ...
I was referring to rougher parents of Europe but yes, there are parts of the UK that are rougher than others. I have had a Glaswegian living next door to me since 1990.

I thought I spotted a bottle of 'Buckies' in yer drinks cabinet.

Considering 98 percent of uk population that go to europe only ever go on holiday so who gives a shot about the tiny minority that can't now and there is loop holes for those that need to stay still can do

It's not quite as straightforward as that. Yes it's still possible to get residence in some EU countries for living/retiring there. Poss the easiest are Portugal, Spain and France. Others are far more difficult or impossible to get permanent residence in for us as a third country.

When I say some countries are easier to get residence, you still have to satisfy minimum capital or income requirements. OK if you're on a gold-plated final salary with a £700K house to sell in UK. However, for those with more modest means who dreamt of ending their days under sunny Mediterranean skies - the door has been firmly slammed in their faces. The type I'm talking about are ordinary, working people who inhabit places like Feungirola, Torrevieja, etc, etc - enjoying their dotage strolling along the prom and nipping into a bar for paella and San Mig. People who deserve the chance of something better and somewhere to live where their modest pensions stretch a bit further than here in rip-off Britain. These are the ones you see on programmes like Bargain Loving Brits In The Sun. Those wanting to join them in the future have lost the chance.

We're making a good point till you mentioned 700k the figure for Spain is less than 30k

Plenty of pensioners go out to the warmer climes of Spain for just three months in winter - was cheaper to live there than the U.K.. My mums uncle used to do that every year. Three months is enough for them.
