IMF predicting UK the worse performing economy according to the news..

If you follow the discussion, it was put forward would you be willing to pay 5% more taxes for better public services.
Others might want to twist that to suit that's their perogative.

Are you trying to say vat wasn't lowered because of an increase in public services ?

No, I'm talking about tax take, something the Tories trumpet that they allow us to have more of our money than labour. This is no longer the case as has become obvious.
Some say they'd pay an extra 5% for better public services, I'd say heads should roll if they can't manage on the tax take they already received.

Interesting to relate to price increases where VAT is charged. Changes to personal imports will increase the take now. No change for business imports if both ends are vat registered. I do know of one EU distributor who has. I'd guess all more major business have - over there anyway.

so reducing vat as a brexit benefit isn't relevant ?

as people say who don't like paying for a BBC license: i won't use it, so why should i...Socialism!
The TV licence is a good example of how socialism often really works, in that the poor pay and the rich receive. Is Gary Lineker a good cause, to the point that the entire population should be threatened with imprisonment to pay his insane salary for chatting about footy?

We don't watch live TV or iplayer so don't pay for a TV licence. We have 3 TVs. All 100% legal. It's not a tax, it's a membership and is not compulsory.

Exports from the EU to the UK are now zero rated, as are exports from the UK to the EU. No Vat paid either way.

It's not about your VAT registered status.

A product can be sold for export.

As I illustrated in a previous thread, a boat can be exported from the UK VAT free and "live" in the EU without paying VAT providing it does a few trips to turkey now and again.

and can you explain why such a boat should avoid vat ?

It couldve been which it seems pretty obvious if you've the ability to reduce it to as low as 0%
This would mean tax being taken in other areas which could lead to obvious awkward questions, like wtf you doing with all this money.
Vat off building materials could be very adventagious to those on lower incomes who like doing a bit of diy.
