Is Basic income a good idea.

I dont know much about it, I seem to remember the Aussies nicked the Abos land, give em some land on the edge of town and some benefits they spend on whiskey.
Rofl,,,,,,,you did not know that was offensive,,,,love to know how you address people from china and Pakistan,,etc!!

Well I'm not arguing for income support and I'm not really a fan of it either. I'm for empowering the working classes to push back against oppression and the tyranny of the ruling class, but that involves pushing for better pay and working conditions, the power of unions and strong leadership, it doesnt, in my mind, mean getting paid to do fuk all, which is what New Labour introduced in the 90s - the benefits class.
Im all for so many lefty leanin fekwits to stop blaming everyone for their lazy useless fektard lives.Power of unions,,,,,indeed,,,like the £100k tube drivers,, thanks to over powered union.

Its not racist, just a shortenened word.

Edit: apologies, I didnt know it is defined as a derogatory term. My apologies to all aborigines
The same as the shortened name for Pakistan not being offensive??..must admit though,,I find no offense in being called a Brit!

Well if you or I were one of them we could be laughing wouldn't we. Surely it's not especially healthy to look around at those on higher incomes and want to bring them down, surely the onus is on us to take personal accountability and improve ourselves to get out there and do the same. 100k to drive a train ,,,, nice work if you can get it.

Wrong. I don't like the idea, or the reality, of notch making things up for his own entertainment.
I havent made anything up.

Im sure JohnD will have some answers soon:

where has basic income actually been tried (not just a trial)?

And where are the figures that show it isn't expensive.

He won't answer :ROFLMAO:
I will...

Corporate/rich individual tax relief in the UK is approx £400bn...

Do the maths and you'll find that if those pocketing all the money paid their fair share a basic income would be cheaper than the current welfare/tax credit one...

Funny how those systems have become too complicated, and then cost a huge amount to administer...

So of course it won't ever happen here - because too many bureaucrats would lose their jobs since they would no longer be needed!

Do the actual maths rather than basing your argument on whataboutery and if you were to pay everyone considered of working age (36.6m) by the figures given in the 2011 census £100 a week, it will cost 23% of what's forecast to be collected through public revenue in 2019 (£775.8bn).

That's more than the 2015/16 budget for the entire NHS (£116.4bn) at £178.4bn

My point exactly.

Your link shows it was 'trialled'

Where has it actually been tried?

The Alaska Permanent Fund operating since 1982.

You are trying to hide behind definitions - you were wrong on this, it's no big deal. But trying to defend your point through sophistry is not helpful. You are one of the better posters on here.

When I was in Australia I worked with Aussies {Australians} Stevo {Steve} Johno {John} Parlo {Parlo} at the Uni {University} a Pommie painter called Jacko {Jack}

Abbo was never meant to offensive.

It's just the way the Australians {Aussies} speak

This sarvo { the afternoon}

Elle or Yafo. I do believe used the word Septic to describe a citizen of the United States

That's offensive

Makes me laugh when you read Bozos talking about UBI as communism, socialism etc when hard core Libertarians, right wing Governments (I'm looking at you Finland) and even Richard Nixon tried to implement something similar.

When your thinking is so warped you cannot get past your own limited views. UBI has been championed by both the right and left.

https://www.bath.ac.uk/publications...-uk/attachments/basic_income_policy_brief.pdf

The focus on the cost of UBI shows you are barking up the wrong tree as usual as it all depends how it is set, whether it is revenue neutral, The distributional and substitution effects etc.

Indeed.

What the fek does that even mean!..never mind implement it!Many so called working class could not push back against an open door,or spell tyranny.
