German economy is industrial manufacturing and automotive manufacturing. the latter has been in long term decline for 2 reasons.
- People are being pushed away from diesel cars and ze-germans make the best diesel cars
- People are buying quality cars and tech from countries that were not serious contenders 10 years ago.

Have they had their day?

Maybe no longer as clean. Was in Switzerland last weekend and clean everywhere there. Then we popped to Germany to go to a post office (mate's wife had ordered something that could only be delivered to EU) and as soon as I got out the car was struck by how dirty it was, with rubbish and fag ends all over the floor. Maybe that is just post offices though.

The local Kolsch beer there is nectar. One of my favourite lagers.
