Praying to God is a waste of time because as you say he will not do anything.

Heathen, and atheist, are just derogatory words dreamed up by believers for those who disagree with them.
After all, there are rarely words for people who have nothing to do with things that don't exist.

Comes on here spreading "the word" (you know the one about how benevolent and kind and omnipotent God is. I'd have thought that by God's "inaction", he's probably impotent.
Why would an unbelieving heathen pray, unless you believe there is a God there is no one to pray to.
I dont see atheist as a derogatory statement in the same way apolitical is not derogatory.
It is amusing that when their own story book is used to highlight the flaws in their belief system it is the atheist who has mis understood.
What about religionists that have seen the light and reverted to sense?
Maybe not now, but that was its origin and still its usage by some. Prefix 'a' just means 'not'.
As I said, there is no need for the word. There is nothing to describe if you never consider a god - so only originally used by believers to put down non-believers.
If there were people who believed there were elephants on the Sun, would you need to describe yourself as an a{whatever}?
Is there a common word for those who don't believe in or do impossible things?
i dont tell anyone my good works, but if i did tell you it would not matter becuase all sort of people do good things believers or not.
