Personally, I love Christmas, not the commercialisation, but the rest of it, yeah all good. I don't want/need a present though.

it's a pagan festival subsumed into a religious one. it's all about making merry, as tomorrow you may die (of starvation) accept it's core values and shun the commercialisation and it's all good. Horrible time for the lonely through :(

But nothing in this world beats your kids faces on Christmas day (sadly in my case, dead early in the morning with a stinking hangover)

Why bother waiting for the 24th of December?
Why tell people how to live their lives? We are perfectly happy to have our Xmas day together without any responsibilities to others. It works for us, so you can shove your sarcasm!!

I will soon be at an age when receiving socks is a blessing.
I rely on socks and grundies for Xmas - don't buy em all year :) But yes, appreciate your sentiment.

And that's just the kids... I am a bad parent :D

Im not. I just think that celebrating Christmas a day early is not celebrating Christmas.

The Polish celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve, who honestly cares, it's a time for remembering, sharing, forgiveness, family and reflection, as I say get it right and it's all good.

Really? No, you're just calling them morons or being sarcastic.

A bit like those morons who open presents on Christmas eve.

Exactly :)
Our Christmas day is as dull as dishwater, spending all day and evening with elderly relatives in their house, and to be repeated at ours on boxing day with more elderly relatives. While this is what it's all about I suppose, we also had no time to ourselves before it was time to go back to work. So a couple of years ago we decided to have our own, private Christmas day on the 24th, chilling together. Best thing we did.
