Irish soldier killed in attack on UN convoy in Lebanon
The Irish soldier was serving on a peacekeeping mission when the convoy came under small arms fire.
That is the sort of thing they have to put up with. Also can handle to a certain extent. A UN countries army is rather different and very strictly against international law.

Speaking to Lebanese news outlet Al Mayadeen, Chris Sidoti was reported as saying that “no one takes the Israeli government or its delegation seriously on anything they say, as they lie and their comments on the report are lies”.
Sidoti, speaking ahead of a damning report set to be published by the UN’s Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, of which he is a member, also accused Israel of “targeting and destroying the healthcare sector and its workers in Gaza”. [Evidence] “clearly indicates deliberate, targeted attacks” by Israel on Gaza’s healthcare system, saying this was aimed at “its destruction”. He said these actions amount to “a war crime and a crime against humanity”.
The Commission of Inquiry report will be presented to the UN General Assembly on October 30.

To me it looks like these hits were via shells from the Israeli side of the boarder. Israel mentions nearby threats so the badies must be hiding next to UN posts. If so I would have thought they would have said. On the other hand it seems IDF have shot out some UN cameras.
