Germany was the aggressor, the U.K. was fighting for its very existence

Dresden was a a legitimate industrial target with a significant number of factories dedicated to the war effort, including chemical warfare

Oh and the Geneva convention prohibiting the specific targeting of civilians wasn't amended until 1948
