Anything that does that is a computer.
That (nearly) everyone is only thinking of one kind of computer does not alter the fact.

Exactly like the fuss with transformer.

So when notch is writing his letters, ( a, b, c, d, etc :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:) he is not using a computer?
When I play chess on my phone, I am not playing against the computer?

And when a washing machine is calculating the washing programme depending on the weight of the washing, it is computing?

I think I came across that transformer thread -that looked like fun :)

I think a computer description varies from something that computes:
A computer is a device that can be instructed to carry out arbitrary sequences of arithmetic or logical operations automatically

A pcb or controller on a washing machine is a pre programmed IC chip, it carries out logical functions already built in. It cant carry out arbitrary sequences.

Computers are PCBs

The above is a printed circuit board.

It does not compute
It is not a computer :)

Are you thick or something.
How many times do I have to say it: A PCB IS NOT A COMPUTER!
But a computer is basically a PCB.

You keep misquoting my assertion.
Just in case I am not getting through to you, I repeat:
A PCB IS NOT A COMPUTER!
But a computer is basically a PCB.

Just like an animal is not a horse, but a horse is an animal.
Get it yet?

he knows, he's just trolling.

he's been like that for years.

But a computer is basically a PCB.

"Basically" is not a definitive term I'm afraid, and a computer is not actually a PCB either, even though it has several componants in it that consist of PCBs; as I've mentioned earlier, the Rasbery Pi is the only PCB that I'm aware of, that can come close to calling a computer, even though it still needs an I/O device and monitor to get information in and out of it.

Trying to say a computer is basically a PCB, is like saying, well, nothing really.

I have already agreed with that and you, therefore there is no more argument on the matter.

Nevertheless, anything which does compute is, by definition, a computer.

Please keep up.

Well, being as "robots/ AI are all computer based/ operated, it's not unreasonable to assume a government will tax computer technology at some point. (or do you not see the bigger picture here?)
he is saying all computer technology will end up being taxed at some point on that basis

You then posted a sarcastic message:
You need to stand back a bit to see the bigger picture. With your nose touching the canvas, all you will see is your own shadow!

You will upset **** end with your silly comments. Do not forget that washing machines have a PCB!
**** end will have a fit if his favorite subjects are loaded with extra tax.
And central heating programmers, and boilers have PCBs so his BraFriend will also be having a hissy fit!
which is saying in so many words 'washing machines have pcbs' and are therefore computers so will end up being taxed wot a silly idea.

Now you are saying categorically, A pcb is not a computer (which disagrees with your point above):mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::D:D:D:D:):):):)

Im not trolling, Im not being rude, Im just suggesting the above response to Judy in the sky is not correct and the sarcasm not called for

I realise a washing machine may have a pcb, it may have a control board with IC's and it may have logic functions pre-programmed. but by definition it cant instructed to carry out arbitrary sequences of arithmetic or logical operations automatically and hence is not a computer. :D:D:D:D:D

Watch out for those pesky printed circuit boards disguised as computers :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Bolloks. That's like saying a car is basically an engine. Most of a computer isn't PCB. It's a case, a fan, disc drives, transformer and cables. PCBs account for a part of a computer.

Are you on about a PC. Or are you on about an item that can compute? Try to dive in with one arm and one leg next time M itch. It will leave a couple of limbs free. (y)

I can see why you dig holes for a living.

Effing troll.
If a PCB is a computer, then an animal is a horse!
If a computer is not basically a PCB (or collection of PCBs), then a horse is not an animal. (for Mitch, it is a horse in a stable, with harness, reins, saddle, etc.)

Im not trolling, Im not being rude, Im just suggesting the above response to Judy in the sky is not correct and the sarcasm not called for

A washing machine controller has a processor, an operating system, memory, etc.
It does carry out sequences of arithmetic or logical operations. It 'computes' the weight of washing and 'computes' how much water to use and at what temperature. And, if the door is open it does not fill with water!
