Kill switch doesnt kill engine

Weve establised the wire is ok
The post #6 results indicate otherwise, i.e an open circuit somewhere rather than continuity. Did you pierce the wire insulation very close to the bung, and measure from that point to the engine metalwork to get the post #6 results?

OK
Just to make things clear as some people are getting confused.

See attached photos.
Photo 1.
Continuity test.
I have check that all the wire OUTSIDE the body is 100 ok.
This goes from A earth on body through the switch then to where it goes inside the body.
This test is all ok.
As we cant see inside the body it does not matter even if the wire is broken or off where its supposed to be.
I am only checking the all the wire OUTSIDE the body isnt broken.

Photo 2.
With the wire coming from INSIDE the body i used the ohms scale to get the readings.
These readings should tell you if the coil is duff or the wire isnt connected to anything.

Now just need to get inside the body.

If the sole plate doesn't come away from the main body easily, it could be simply bearings being an interference fit in the casting and gentle prising will bring them free. Occasionally the sole plates have locating dowels too, and the plate needs to be lifted dead square to accommodate them.

Morning,
I have the main bode pof the trimmer.
Then a 1 1/2 section of metal material.
Then the last piece which the bolts do it to.

Do you call the sole plate the piece in the middle that i refer to ?

I have removed the lower plate red arrow.
Then taken out all the other allen bolts BUT the sections where blue arrow is showing isnt moving

The sole plate is the cover of the bottom casting that encloses the gears and whatever. I've no idea why you can't shift things, maybe you can give us a picture of the machine, with the grease wiped away, of where you are now.....to be honest I would have expected a little movement.
John :)

Hi,
So looking at my photo marked using the RED arrow.
You are saying that once that is removed the items marked with the BLUE arrow should pull away

I may be missing something here but if, have you removed the row of bolts, a continuation of the one that holds the earth wire as by my reckoning thats the only lot to come out?

There is your magneto, fixed with two bolts in the photo and the HT lead coming out of it. You don't need to remove any more.
