Hey endecotp and thanks for the help, the unit is RCD.
I've not ruled out damage to the cable but couldn't understand why it may have been damaged.
I received a new capacitor today a 3uf rather than the 2uf that was in the unit and when powered on the consumer unit didn't trip. However the disc still did not turn
I also called my spark as I realise that I'm running out of options however as expected he's not interested and referred me over to kingspan.. I can't afford there high call out charges and fees unfortunately. So must plod on.
I'm considering the following. Powering the motor directly via an extension. Just need to know whats live and neutral U1 / U2 on the below photo.
Or alternatively now that the unit isn't tripping I trust I could test directly via a meter. I would then know if power is being received / if the motor is a fault.
Whats your thoughts chaps?

Just a thought, but one of the two brown cores coming from the right of the photo appears to not be connected to anything and loose in the box.
