OTT regarding the 'stamp' is indeed a relevant observation...

Imagine what the outcry would have been if she'd used a scaffold pole instead of a foot ;)
Imagine the outcry if the Nigerian girl was armed with a knife.

Our girl would then be excused, for stamping on her back.

Why. Was she confronted with two youths in crash helmets armed with fûck knows what trying to steal her motorbike? I must have missed that bit…..
Didn't you admit to stealing cars in your youth ?

What a pointless post.
That was just Ellal trying to equate an unsportsmanlike action on the football field with my use of a scaffold pole to beat off a couple of yobs trying to pinch my bike a few years ago. He was weaponising my use of a weapon. Ellal thinks I should have engaged them in a conversation to find out why they wanted my bike, explain to them the error of their ways, given them a jolly good talking to and sent them on their way with a flea in their ear. Still, gives me an excuse to show it again - hardly equates to a game of football, does it?

I think it's very good. Sometimes enough is enough. Good on you for giving it back

Took her long enough to apologise. She should have been there as they walked off the pitch to apologise. She also claimed it wasn't deliberate! Pull the other one, it may have been in the heat of the moment but it clearly looked deliberate.

I wouldn't pick her for the team for the rest of the competition. Too many players, male, female and others who commit “professional” fouls, play acting and deliberate acts of unsportsmanship.

Its time it was stamped out ;)

Was there the same level of discussion when Beckham did similar?

Probably not because, that was in 1998 before social media became what it is today.

Interesting point.

We still read newspapers though, listened to and watched broadcast news, and conversed with people.

We didn't back then though, have the ready facility to interact with people we've never met, never will, and have likely little to zero interest in.

The sad thing about the "stamp" is that it brings women's football down to the level of the men's game with its professional cheating, diving etc and aggressive intimidation of the referee by players and sometimes managers.

The game was pretty boring, play for a draw and take a chance on penalties, again like the men's international game we see England play so often.

Blup

Well, she's got a two match ban. Not as good as a sending home but better than the automatic one match ban. So that’s the quarter final she will miss and the semi-final if they get that far.
