The government is looking to change the law as quickly as possible to ensure, in future cases, the person found guilty must attend the court room for sentencing.

How would you enforce it ??

Resort to violence
Yes, if necessary. In the earlier case a judge said "We can't make a defendant appear if he refuses". Whaaat? If a judge doesn't get that the law ultimately rests on the use of force, what chance do we have? If a defendant is sentenced (whether he's in court or not), and he says I refuse to accept it, I don't recognise the court, would he be let off? Of course not.

"For Dr Brearey and his fellow consultants, the deaths of the two triplets were a tipping point. That evening, Dr Brearey says he called duty executive Karen Rees and demanded Letby be taken off duty. She refused.
Dr Brearey says he challenged her about whether she was making this decision against the wishes of seven consultant paediatricians - and asked if she would take responsibility for anything that might happen to other babies the next day. He says Ms Rees replied "yes".

She has surely got to be sacked and never employed in the NHS ever again.
She should be charged with manslaughter.

You and I might

But I assume crystal ball has another method ??

I doubt that would work, waste of time and money, try something more realistic

Depends what your intention is.

I think we all agree that we do not want anything like this to happen again. Correct?

Putting someone on trial who dismissed, apparently out of hand, legitimate concerns from qualified professionals that likely could have prevented malpractice, would send a clear message. A message to others who think that they can enjoy the trappings of responsibility without actually taking any.

F### her.

I would want a successful prosecution, maybe corporate manslaughter, or some other charge

Sufficient force could be used to bring the accused from the cell to the dock without causing injury. If he's crazy enough to resist violently and gets hurt, it's hardly the fault of the system.

Wouldn't they merely be able to make a fuss and thus be contempt of court, assuming they were being disruptive would the standard response not be to - remove them from court?

A good while back a fella who was a mechanic at a well known Harley dealer ship

Afaik the oldest Harley garage out side of the states

Was riding back from a bike meet when a car pulled up along side him
And shot him

He was a Canadian fella the shooters were found and charged with murder

The fellas mother came over from canada for the trial and sentencing the killers smiled laughed and winked at her in the court room !!!!

I had some dealings with the victim
And he did a fair bit of work on my mates bike

Crystal ball might be concerned about his or her human rights ?
If violence was used ??

I vaguely remember something about that case. Presumably they were sent down for a good stretch, so you could say she had the last laugh.
