Quite a lot of that aboutwill some parents just think, that's one less responsibility we have
Exactly, I bought a 1.5Kg bag of Gala apples in Home Bargains yesterday, I paid £1 and they are excellent quality.Oranges are about 20p and apples considerably cheaper
Yeah, can be lack of skills and education.Spot on.But Good food can be cheap.Veg mix for broth etc...Offcuts from butchers..Many,,, not all..cannot be bothered or lack the skills.
If you go to tesco or sains they're about 40p each!! Damn it, I've been hadExactly, I bought a 1.5Kg bag of Gala apples in Home Bargains yesterday, I paid £1 and they are excellent quality.
The good food is only term time - it's a £15 voucher I think, so they can buy whatever food they like.Oranges are about 20p and apples considerably cheaper - how much is crisps and pop?
Sounds great that the state is going to prepare and provide a nourishing meal everyday, but is it a long term solution, or will some parents just think, that's one less responsibility we have. And how will affect the obesity problem we have in the UK if we do provide all this extra free food unless people also stop consuming the high calorie junk food.

Some...Possibly...how many...no idea but doubt very much it is huge numbers..Was watching this ""homeless" beggar counting his wad of notes, shortly before lockdown. The problem is, some people don't have a spare 20p for one orange.
Why no benefits?Having no money
Similair..I grew up in 1 parent family.NEVER went hungry. As one of four children and parents who didn't have much money at the beginning we ate things like boiled mince with peas and boiled spuds

1 person....As I said...not stacks. The system fails many people. Plenty of news and reports about it if you're interested in learning more.
Only today I heard of a case of a woman who has always worked losing her job just before lockdown. She would normally have jumped straight into a new job, but now has been over 3 months out of work. Universal credit doesn't pay her rent, which she is contractually tied into, and landlord refusing to lower or pause rent. She could stop paying, but then face eviction and a poor credit rating, meaning after coronavirus she wouldn't get another place to rent. Universal credit is about £200 less than rent, she is relying on savings to survive. Many don't have savings though.
