Migrants crossing the channel. What could/should be done?

The milk of human kindness eh.

I chuckled when I saw that line, reminded me of a Billy Bragg song called The Milkman of human kindness, from his first album I think. It had the line "I love you, I am the milkman of human kindness and I will leave you an extra pint". I wept tears of mirth when I heard it, how corny, but still a good song.
I bought the album for 'Between the wars' and 'A new England', good old Billy, a complete raving socialist but likeable nonetheless, always made sure his albums were sold for less than market price, didn't like his politics, but respected his loyalty to those principals.

I had a mate who was such a fanboy of Bragg. I wasn't keen on much of the music (just the odd tune) but as you say, seems a decent fella. Smart too :)

That would send a good strong message to the frogs.
Any fatalities would be the frogs responsibility. For escorting them to our waters.
Fools like you around in ww2 would have lost us the war.
Bull.

IMO the main reason this Country voted for Brexit was that the News Media frightened the Public about stories of migrants in Calais at least at that time the French were making an effort to stop them stowing away on vehicles , now we are out of the EU France dosent give a "monkies" there is no law EU law stopping them from entering this Country
Border Control is now our responsibility Brexit at its best .

Leave brexit out of it; mainland EU never gave a toss about stopping wannabe UK residents making their way across la manche in the first place.
I often wonder about the possible attitude of UK, if the situation were reversed, i.e. migrants/asylum seekers, refugees from elsewhere, congregating on UK shores and attempting to cross the channel to France.

France would, naturally seek the cooperation of the UK to prevent the migrants from attempting the crossing.
And the UK's attitude, policies and processes for preventing the migrants attempting to cross the Channel?
They'd be selling the boats by the boatload :giggle: , pleading lack of resources, asking other countries to take a fair share, and continue to blame the migrants.

I often wonder about the possible attitude of UK [citizens not the geological rocks] if the situation was reversed and illegal migrants actually filled in some forms and applied for entry like any other lawful person that wants to come to the country to work and contribute not suck it dry.

Right wing politics

Oh let's get our supporters riled about brown people in boats....that'll get em screaming war, rule Britannia etc etc.

Refugees are the result of right wing governments allowing the sale of arms to dodgy regimes like Saudi.

Refugees in the channel are result of the French not caring since Brexit and smuggling gangs.
