Russia has announced a new strategy - to extend the corridor west to link up with Transdniestria.

That means invading Moldova which is another sovereign, pro Western democracy.

It’s all very worrying

Very True.

the worry now is Putin has failed dismally and we are now faced with a dictator trying to save face….oh and he might have thyroid cancer.

Afaik part of Moldova is already under some type of Russian control ??

and afaik they have applied to join the EU ????
Putin won’t be happy ?

As the West have done nothing (militarily) to stop him carrying out the mass slaughter of civilians in Ukraine, I imagine he thinks that the same will apply when he invades Moldova.

Aid groups and activists net works are having to send abortion pills
And HIV medicine to recently occupied regions of Ukraine amid reports that Russian troops are raping civilians

Indeed a fact.

I got it right re Coronavirus. We were on hols New Zealand in early Feb 2020 for 3 weeks and I recall talking to our children and saying get masks/hand gels etc to them mid Feb and they all chuckled as did a nephew of mine who is a A&E doc at the time. We have family in NZ they lol when I told them that I felt this virus was the real thing and maybe a worldwide event that the world had not seen for over a hundred years. We returned to the UK o Mrach the first and the rest is history.

Putin shook me up with his chilling warning on the day of the attacks re nuke strike via a very thinly veiled threat an I said to my hubby, "I feel this is going to get out of hand."
Worryingly, the actions by our leader and his cronies egged on by the USA worries me no end.

Putin may be or may not be ill but he is relatively old 72 and IMO he could not care less if he used battlefield nukes/ or WW3 nukes as long as he does not lose face. Putin is getting more desperate by the day and the Russian public are being fed the news they are and many believe it just as we trust our news feeds most of the time.

To stop all this at least to deescalate, behind the door meetings must take place and the rhetoric by the UK and the USA must stop.

Importantly, Modvia must be trained up and su;;ied with SAMS, anti tank, radars, snippers etc etc. Worryingly, just like the ukraine, there is already a part of Modavia that is out of their control and controlled by separatists, Russian speaking people that feel hard done by, rightly or wrongly.

Personally, I blame Russian, the UK and especially the USA for all of this ie winding up those in ukraine to test the will of the Russian leader by creeping right up to his door.

Said it before, the West should have called his bluff and helped Ukraine hit them with everything we've got. If it started WW3 so be it.

We are told he has but he has finally started doing what he said he would. Some aspects such as critical infra structure more thoroughly than they had previously as well.

What they actually said was Donbas, demilitarize and nazi's. Nazi's is a bit of a mystery. Of late reporters are pointing at the Azov battalion for those. Not clear if it is any more It's a separate unit to the Ukraine army. The other aspect is just how many planes and tanks etc Ukraine now has along with kit and gear in general. How many soldiers and similar have been shot or put out of action. They can do their estimates as well. All we know about infrastructure is over 1,000 strikes recently including railway this time. Mixed Russian and Ukraine info but no details at all about what and how bad the damage is. There never is usually from Ukraine for obvious reasons. No one wants the enemy to know how well they have done. Both sides will add as much positive spin as they can. The west will too. It will be aimed at their own populations or in Ukraine's case also wanting more kit.

The run up to now. Perhaps he thought Ukraine might give up easily. Perhaps the arrangement tied up Ukraine making areas he wanted easier to take. C4 had an ex white house advisor on and mentioned that Bush thought it was all over after his initial shock and awe raid on Iraq. It was far from over. Even Russia has said they don't want to flatten Kyev. The same advisor said don't assume he will stop any time soon but he probably would like something "nice" to say on May 9th but don't bank on it. Seems she is a bit of an expert in this area but pundits are just that.

Ukraine wasn't doing all that well with corona before this started. Up and down like most places. Now?

Latvia has a large proportion of Russian speaking population ?

3rd of there population ?? They have there own political party ?

Georgia
Latvia
Lithuania

all with large Russian communities

The Azov Regiment is an official part of the Ukrainian army, and on flattening Kyiv the russians didn't hesitate to flatten Mariupol, which has a majority russian population.

Despite his BS threats, I don't think Pootin would invade a NATO country. That obviously doesn't include Georgia though.
