More deaths in the channel.

It has to be in the interest of the French authority's in Northern France for us to stop the attraction and for them to stop the boats.

Perhaps the French should have a purge on all those they find hanging around the likely departure points on the French coast. Ask them what they are doing there and if they have no French immigration status, either put them in a holding centre and make claim asylum in France or fùck off back to where they came from. Anyone from outside the EU with checkable identities and a passport can’t stay in France for more than 90 days so why should some illegal immigrant be allowed to stay there while they get the money together to pay to a criminal gang so that they can occupy the resources of the lifeboat services from France and the U.K. and risk their life crossing the channel in a rubber boat?

If France resists the emigrations, they get lumbered with them all, so how keen are they?

The system's all wrong. If someone flees as a refugee, they should register in the first country, then there should be a system to share the load.

Exactly. So that makes them responsible for any deaths by aiding and abetting them.
They aren't aiding and abetting, they're spending millions of our money "trying to stop the boats". After they've paid for their Cotes du Rhone, Gauloises and new phones..

do the lifeboats affect its ability to perform in the conditions it’s designed for? You can play as dumb as you like. It’s a historic fact that titanic was declared seaworthy after completing sea trials in April 1912.

It was the SOLAS regulations that were introduced in 1914 (and presumably boats over a certain meterage required lifeboats for everyone on board). I knew quite a few boat owners that had liferafts but they weren't a legal requirement and I didn't carry one on my yacht.

Reading the accounts of the Fastnet Race storm many sailors perished after abandoning ship to their liferafts never to be found, whereas the boats they abandoned were found floating around a few days later.
