New workers rights?

I think the day one rights will make SME's very, very cautious about who they take on and may hinder growth in that sector.
A lot depends on whether there will be an appeal to an industrial tribunal, I suspect claims relating to discrimination will be allowed. The sensible approach is to have a minimum employee limit before the new rules kick in

You said earlier that the change from 2 years to 9 months was workable. You are just trolling.
I was merely trying to bring you up to speed with enough knowledge for you to be able to contribute without looking stupid.

I will leave you to look stupid.

Then follow the process and then sack them.

Unless they tick the box for instant dismissal.

You'd prefer to put someone through a performance improvement/capability process who is 6 months in the job, so that you can sack them based on capability?

Nice.

Do you understand these processes tend to scar an individual?

A Friday is popular as many work a shorter hour Friday anyway. Sometimes lunch break times have been cut from traditional times that were caused by factories with lots in them and very large canteens.

Sorry, AJ - I've tried. However I can't make any sense of these two sentences. :giggle:

It's not an attack. You clearly know nothing about employment law, nobody expects you to be an expert, but unless you've ever had to get rid of an underperforming worker, you have no idea of the stress it puts on a person to put them through a process that is not in their interests.

Looks like the whole thing is getting kicked in to the long grass anyway.

one thing to like about Labour - they don't mind a U-turn when they get it wrong. Even the Unions thought the proposals would cost jobs.

You keep making things up to suit your argument as you flip flop around.

My point is that you can still dismiss people, as before, even with the minor changes proposed. You said yourself, this morning, the 9 month limit was workable. That's it, nothing else, I am saying that Labour's possible proposals will have minimal effect on current processes. I need to be an expert in employment law to recognise it?

You have also made a fool of yourself twice now on what the actual proposals are. First time I called you out on presuming headlines would be the final law wording, and now you say it has been kicked in to the long grass anyway!

You might be better better waiting for the actual legislation next time.

forgive me, if I don't believe you were the manger responsible and accountable for the dismissal. Your employer would have trained you properly.
