Glastonbury is our version of Woodstock and when i went it still had a shanty town feel to it all. No way will i go near the corporate shindig it is now.

I'm 3 episodes in to an 8-part series. Original Woodstock was a mess but on the whole a friendly experience where everyone mucked in. Nobody really knew what they were doing since no one had ever held such a large scale open air event before - the people who held the event 30 years later have no excuse for the madness.

How do you think the arrest rate per 1,000 people compares to the recent rioting? Up to 1,000,000 expected at the Notting Hill Carnival.

1,000 arrests so far for the recent rioting. It could be argued that every single person in unathorised attendance at the riots should be arrested.

"Hundreds of thousands of people came to Notting Hill Carnival to enjoy a fantastic celebration," the Met said.
"Regrettably, a minority came to commit crime and engage in violence."

Pretty much like any other carnival, football match, etc.
The arrest rate is much reduced from previous years. But that doesn't prevent the typical racists wanting to focus on it.

And we have to reflect on the mistrust in the police by the typical attendee at the Notting Hill Carnival, and the resulting behaviour of the attendees, and the police, due to that mistrust.
 
Luckily there wasnt more injuries looking at the crush in the crowd .

Sounds to me like a lot of the violence is aimed at the police. I hope they lock lots of people away....



She added that in the past two years, one person had been killed, 14 others had been stabbed and more than 125 police officers had been assaulted.

About 500 arrests were made at the carnival during those two years.

"These incidents can’t be downplayed or dismissed," she said.

That won't be of the slightest interest to the typical bigot.
They're not interested in the whys and wherefores.
They just want to make a comment to demonise black people.

About 1,000,000 people expected to attend the Notting Hill Carnival, 90 arrests made, 3 stabbings.

Over 1,000 people arrested, so far, for the recent rioting. At least two people were attacked by an angry racist mob. Many were stopped and asked for information about their ethnicity. Many barricaded themselves in their houses. Several could have been burnt alive.

How do you think the arrest rate per 1,000 people compares?
