Let's remember the statistics, 2,000,000 participants over two days at the carnival.
The second biggest carnival in the world.
Started as a protest against racism.
About 250 arrests over two days. That's a ratio of about 12.5 arrests per 100,000 people.
The German arrest ratio hovers around 75 per 100,000.
The usual UK arrest ratio is just over 1,000 arrests per 100,000 people.

The statistics speak for themselves.

Some people are just naturally violent criminals, I suppose, looking for any opportunity to fire each other up.

In other news, filly is one of the people who spreads false rumours intended to promote hatred and violence.

"He said: “You can’t have it that every single year come Tuesday morning we’re contemplating these types of injuries, this numbers of injuries and sexual assaults and stabbings. It really is awful.”

Eight men were stabbed across the weekend, with two taken to hospital".

Time to call a halt to the ****ing thing.

Notice anything in common with those wielding machette's?

What, this one?
A white guy attacking some unarmed black guys with a machete?
Oops, sorry, one of the black guys is armed with a water bottle.

They should stick to scaffold poles. :giggle:

Because it's a carnival commemorating the racist riots by RWR against black and brown people?

Anybody noticed how there's no need to say Notting Hill Carnival these days, it's just carnival. Like (TUC) conference and god.

Ha-ha-f**king-ha. I don't think you've lived at all, you're an AI bot, or you post like one. Those outfits don't refer to their get-togethers as "conference", like the TUC do.
That's because the TUC is a Congress. :D

If you get your skates on, you might make the Lib Dem Conference.

Autumn Conference - Brighton, 14-17 September 2024

That white guy..........isn't.

Apparently the attending police men/women were told not to enter into things like twerking with carnival attendees, but to get on with policing.

Should it not have been this way every year by default? I get the police want to keep people onside etc, however there's a limit.

Because the number of crimes committed has remained stubbornly high over the decades – eight stabbings this year, 349 arrests and 61 incidents where officers were assaulted – police argue for a tougher approach. Leroy Logan - a former superintendent in the Metropolitan police and a former chair of the Black Police Association. - has this advice in the Guardian...

We need a proactive policing by each of the borough command units across London, and it shouldn’t be left to central operations to work solely with carnival stakeholders. Preparation for carnival should start ahead of time, not only around the operational logistics, but also focused on how prevention and early intervention tactics can be used to ensure people who are vulnerable to being sucked into gangs are prevented from doing so. These people can be persuaded to attend carnival in a positive way, with the assistance of charity sectors in their local area. The strategy can’t be just more boots on the ground, greater enforcement powers and enhanced use of technology. There needs to be a longer term partnership approach across the Met in preparation for NHC.

Notting Hill Carnival is sadly an example of a tiny minority spoiling it for everybody else.
