Poland

Seems like they might have their own version of illegal immigrants. Can you imagine the screams from the anti-Tory brigade on here if our prime minister had said the same?

"The language deployed by the ruling rightwing populist Law and Justice (Pis) party can seem unbridled. Jarosław Kaczyński, its leader, has described Tusk as the personification of evil, an “enemy of Poland” and a “pest”. At the launch of the PiS campaign Tusk was described as an “external party” with “decision-making centres outside Poland”. In a speech in Katowice, Mateusz Morawiecki, the prime minister, warned that the opposition was preparing a “women’s hell” featuring “rapes, robberies, murders” and “young, rootless immigrants storming the borders”.

The Tory government do use incorrect terminology when they persistently refer to asylum seekers as illegal immigrants.
They're only illegal, because the Tory government has put a blanket description on all asylum seekers arriving in UK.

Many on the Bibby Stokholm had arrived by air! It was mentioned on BBC2 last night.

The government may be struggling to accommodate and feed one million refugees from Ukraine. I don't think the average fascist voter can tell the difference.

Poland is running low on arms they can send to Ukraine. Its not really about grain.

"Migration has become one of the most contentious issues ahead of the vote. …..The government has refused to take in asylum-seekers who enter the EU in other countries".

Seems fair to me.

Whipped up by lying RWR groups.
For example, in Germany, the have resorted to outright lies to whip up anti-immigrant emotion.

Bavaria election: Toxic campaign heralds big vote for Germany's populists

Its leaders say they are being physically attacked or threatened.
But their opponents accuse them of twisting the truth for political gain, by playing into a narrative of victimisation.
Either way the debate is unusually toxic.

One typical example of outright lies of one of the leaders has been exposed:
Days before the vote, Tino Chrupalla, the co-leader of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), was taken to intensive care after feeling unwell during an election rally in Bavaria.
The party describes it as a "physical attack" and AfD supporters on social media are convinced that Chrupalla was injected with a toxin.
Police are investigating, but so far say they have no evidence he was poisoned.
Mr Chrupalla is now out of hospital, but it could take another few days for the results of tests to be confirmed, during which time speculation is only growing.
And another example from the same group:
In September, the AfD's other co-leader, Alice Weidel, was taken by Swiss police from her home in Switzerland to a safe house because of security concerns. The party says there was a risk of an attack against her and her family.
A few weeks later, she delivered a speech to a rally via video link rather than in person because, according to the AfD organisers, "she wasn't allowed out of the safe house" for her own safety.
In fact she was on holiday abroad. On the same day as the rally, she was spotted in a beach restaurant in Mallorca with her partner.

Such is the outright dishonesty of the typical RWR.
And the gullible fall for it, every time.

Why is this person questioning which person is this person.
Are you accusing me of being dishonest?
If so I trust you have some evidence to support your accusation.

Doh!, silly me, you never do have any evidence to support your accusations. They always are baseless accusations.

Poland have an awful lot of Ukrainian refugees, that must be a strain for the country so it’s not a great surprise they are against taking from elsewhere in the EU

I read it that they are not taking any asylum seekers if they have travelled through any other EU country to get to Poland.

If every EU country took that attitude, the asylum seekers would all be in Greece and Italy

is that fair?
