I can understand and appreciate the need for training at these speeds, I have no problem with that. But to prevent misuse of the priveledge of such a position certain procedures should be implemented and I'm suprised that they don't exist already!
Anyone requiring high speed driving training should have it approved by a senior member then back-up co-ordinated to help if the worst were to happen. Not much to ask is it? This would then help prevent officers abusing the priveledge and remove any doubt whether an officer was just driving fast for the fun of it. It's all down to our blame culture again isn't it? "It wasn't my fault I was doing warp speed down the motorway, it's because the Police Force don't have any procedures" "Ok, then son, off you go"
