Suggested sites for nuclear power stations.

The area that complains the most about not wanting wind turbines in their back yard should be top of the list for a new nuke power station.

Can't they all be built about 30+ miles off shore?

If the reactor decides to....er....malfunction, dip the rig. Submerge the fella.

I mean come on, logistically, it must be easier to pipe electric than it is to shift gas and oil.

noseall for president?

Most of the sites named are or were existing nuclear sites anyway.
This would be the most logical site to place them. Why develope green-field sites, when a nuclear site working or not, already exists.

They are talking of building one about 2 miles from me (Kirksanton) - only issue is how to evacuate the prison if something was to go wrong.
One of the ideas is to send the electric via underwater cables to (I think it is) Heysham so it can join the grid there as the local grid isn't up to it - the old power station (Calder Hall which is now closed) up the road was only 200MW but the new ones are into GWs.
Couple of other locations suggested are Sellafield and a place near Egremont called Braystones. About 18 miles south of me is Heysham which is another of the proposed sites.
One major advantage of using an existing site I can see is that the security is already there.

With living so close to all those nuclear power stations, those extra pair of arms mush come in handy when changing a consumer unit

I live closer to a place where they build nuclear subs than any of the power stations
