Replacement rods in cable fishing kit

one job in my own house i used our cat who seemed fascinated that there was this big void under the floor that she didnt know about till I lifted a few boards. very thin thread on her collar, shove her in the hole and rattle a box of cat treats at the other end, worked a treat as you might say. stronger string tied to thread , pull that back and attach cable and pull the other way. Jobs a good un as they say.

I have the standard super rods set.

Annoyingly, you have to purchase 5 of each class of 1m rod at approximately £40 per 5m.... and more annoyingly, they don't seem to offer the smaller components (eg gender changer, hook, etc) as consumables.

I did loads of extra sockets and ran some speaker cables around a fireplace for my brother years ago.
Big Victorian terrace in London. Through lounge and hallway.

Once we were done, all the boards were back, the fitted carpet was back and we looked for the cat….
took chuffing ages to get a freaked out cat out

I was about to ask what the frigging heck you were quoting for. My first set were Super Rods and I think I paid £25 +vat at the wholesalers opposite TV Centre, admittedly 15 years or more ago (sadly they developed legs on a site) my replacement was a slimmer set which I personally prefer (but I know it's a Marmite topic). Since then I've added 2 more similar sized (4mm threads) but different makes and all are interchangeable.
Searching for Super Rods I'm shocked at the price now.

As to 'is 8m not enough?' I've had many situations with much longer than 8m runs, maybe 20m.

I have the same duratool 10m set and it's fine ( ok it's now 9m as one length is still in a stud wall!!) and at that price you don't feel sick if you lose a length.

I think I paid about the same

The basic set is now £71.40 (for 5m) at CEF

Have had various rod sets over the last 20 years inc super rods …but the best by a mile are the c&k ones ….for the following reasons ….metal screw threads ( not brass ) never snapped ….no fibreglass splinters , comes with screw adaptor to allow super rods to screw on and finally the spiral flexi rod…

@Jupiter01 - perhaps take one of yours to a local wholesaler or somewhere like Toolstation and ask if you try screwing yours to one of theirs to ascertain if they’ll fit universally? Or just purchase the set @flameport referenced.

Why is brass bad?
