France does not receive 3 X claims to UK - its wrong.
So present the figures for applications received in 2022, for boat arrivals, for UK and France, not the number of sucessful applications (neither in 2021 nor 2022)

The question put to Zoe was:
The question was, "of the asylum seekers in Calais, why do they not claim in France, italy, Spain or Greece?
Her response addressed that question, not your preferred set of data.

Edit: The question was in reference to boat arrivals (specifically thiose in Calais waiting to cross the Channel),
The number of applications from boat arrivals in UK was 40,000. Half your claimed amount.

There were 115,000 applications from all sources in France in 2022.

Yes but.....

Did France receive 3 X as many asylum claims to the UK last year?

Its quite simple.

Very nearly, yes. 115,000 to France, 40,000 to UK.

It also indicates that there were another 40,000 applications to UK from other sources.
There's very little concern about those. Why is that?

One source vs all source? Thats pathetic even from you. I also note its a GRANT rate.

She is wrong and we all know it.

She was trying to argue her lobbyist position that France has 3 X more people seeking its protection compared to the UK. i.e. they are already doing 3X more than us. Its nonsense.

We could have 500,000 and a 1% acceptance rate and that would not mean we lead Europe in protecting asylum claimants.
We do not include those coming via safe a legal routes in our stats. I've no idea if France has a similar policy.

from your source.

Her response was to the question put to her.
You want her to address your question, which has not been put to her.
On that basis, you claim she was wrong.

You compare grants vs acceptance   - in flimsy attempt to argue she is almost right.

You either compare claims vs claims or acceptance vs acceptance.

Look I get she is pretty and noseall wants to bone her but she is giving misleading information. its wrong any way you look at it.

No I'm using the applications figures. The question was, "If these people in Calais are legitimate refugees, why do they not claim in France, italy, Spain or Greece?", The answer was, "most do not". The figures for France were presented as a perfectly adequate response to disprove the basis of the question.
If you need an explanation betweem applications and acceptance, I'm happy to oblige.

You either compare claims vs claims or acceptance vs acceptance.
She presented the number of applications in response to the question, "If these people in Calais are legitimate refugees, why do they not claim in France, italy, Spain or Greece?
You started using acceptance and acceptance ( ) as an invalid attempt to discredit her answer.

Look I get she is pretty and noseall wants to bone her but she is giving misleading information. its wrong anyway you look at it.
Your misogyny is showing. Because she has a pretty face does not make her wrong.

I wondered when bar graphs would make an appearance. What fun! They always prove an argument.

In this case they're irrelevant.
The question put to Zoe was about the asylum seekers waiting in Calais, and why they did not claim in other countries.

it was only me asking why the overt concern with boat arrivals when there's as many, if not more, from other sources.
I realsie now it was be a convenient springboard to divert the discussion.

Are you now suggesting that 3x more illegals waiting in calais claim asylum in France rather than trying to cross to the UK?

Utter nonsense.

whether you compare applicants vs applicants or accepted claimants vs accepted claimants.

She is wrong. France does not have 3X as many as the UK.

Don't be stupid.
Where's gant gone, he sometimes makes more sense.

I agree wholeheartedly, your question was utter nonsense.

115.000 applications to France
V
40,000 applications to UK.

It's as good as 3X's to make no difference.

She is pretty, and accurate, and eloquent, and well informed
It's a shame the MPs don't measure up.
