Shame on you
So that was you i saw rambling through the woods, looking for dinner the other day...Yes, I know. My carbon footprint is at least size 14.
Please don't tell the huggers on here.![]()
I see no evidence but like ground source I don't necessarily see electric as the future.
Cleaner forms of diesel, like biodiesel may progress to be to where less will run more.
Cleaner more economic petrol could still be developed,.
Converting existing Vehicles for Cleaner fuels would be Cleaner than producing new Vehicles.
Hydro may developed more.
I see no evidence but I have read that nothing is certain.
The problem with any kind of biofuel, is that if you turned over every square inch of arable land in the country to growing it, you still wouldn't get enough to power the country's vehicle fleet. (And we'd have to import all our food).
The car industry has been trying to develop "more economic" petrol for 100 years now, and "cleaner" for about 50. The fundamental physics of how an internal combustion engine works, put a cap on their efficiency. Even now, with all the desperate scratchings around with variable compression ratio and Atkins cycle engines, we can barely get to 50% efficiency in some big ship engines that run for long periods at near constant load. For a car, we're down below 30% on average.
Synthetic fuels are a possibility, but you still need the ingredients and the energy to make them. You'll need very deep pockets!
Sadly, I'd love to believe it will come, but your average ICE car has a 10-15 gallon fuel tank - say 40-60 litres. Even if you doubled the efficiency of the engines, you'd only be able to halve the tank size for the same range. I can't think of any fuel that would have sufficient density to allow a thimbleful to power the car for any distance.
Weird. I posted a reply saying Henry Ford pioneered a hemp ethanol fuel that was used to power a car but ran into an error message telling me it wouldn't post. Yet i can write out a reply without using links or quotes. What's going on?
I was talking extremes get my point across.
Not convinced by Electric. I have council land on the side of my house. The council will not entertain the idea of letting me have this land for me to park and charge an electric vehicle.
Up and down the land people like me haven't the facilities to charge an EV.
There is something else in the pipeline.
Grass maybe? Then that would breed grass thieves, out with the lawn mower at 3am.
What other thread? I'll take a lookNot sure if this will let me, but I posted some thoughts on your post on the other thread. Probably not worth duplicating here, as it was a long one!
