What would happen if they hit a concrete lamp post?

Are they designed to fall over a bit. Or does the driver take the brunt.
All lights and signs are designed to go over in an accident. Not much left of the car though tbh once they hit them but you wont go through your windscreen, lets say they stop you and kill your speed in an accident.

Incredible how little I know. I feel quite stupid talking to these real experts. I might look into another job as a taxi driver or something.
Nobody’s challenging your core skills, just don’t forget the bollards and cones.

Don't talk silly. We have health and safety officers in vehichles that check us randomly all of the time, if a job requires cones and barriers then we use them same as traffic management. 90% of jobs do not require them. I work for the authority that makes the rules, would be silly to break them myself.

I will photograph some of the jobs that do require them to show you the difference. I am not saying that we don't use them, we obviously do but we have to way up the risks in not using them,, most times there is no risk and using them would cause uneccessary disruption. Any safety concerns it is automatic that we use them.

Just to add to the statement above, on motorways and national speed limit roads barriers and cones are manditory. `We will close lanes off on motorways. Excavation work is also manditory whist we are working or if we leave thee excavations, every job we do has a risk assesment attached to it and we have to photograph our work on our handhelds which is uplloaded to our national hub. We would face disciplinary action if we fail to use barriers and cones where they are required and we can be pulled by our H&S people if we use them unnecsary and cause problems.

Here is a quick google searchh as I know Odds especialy thinks Google is the be all and end all for being correct. so here is a google answer.
"No, it's not necessary to use cones and barriers on street lighting all the time in the UK. They are used for safety purposes during street works or road works, not as a permanent fixture"
