Smear Karma

Why do you think the taxpayer should give me £200?
you accept the 20% Tax reduction on your ISA interest perhaps they thought you would be happy with another 200 quid

Why do you think that

for example, magically become

?
You might need to have a little think about what happens to us when we age.

Let's take a "wealthy pensioner" couple with a £50k Pension, living in the South East in modest 3 bed semi worth 500k. Imagine one has a stroke and needs care. NHS funding will last 1 month. 2 carers needed 3 x a day help for 30 minutes, plus travel time. Let's add to that a cleaner, a gardener, someone to help with maintenance.. etc.

Not so wealthy now.

Appeal to extremes fallacy.

Back to my question though.
Go on.......

Appeal to extremes fallacy.

That's not an extreme. You should get out into the world a bit more and meet real people.

Data taken from 2021 census:

"Unpaid carers support many older people, and 20% of people aged 65 and older are unpaid carers themselves. Caring responsibilities can affect many aspects of a person's life, including their health, finances, mental wellbeing, and sleep. The most commonly reported challenge by unpaid carers is the impact of caring on physical and mental health. Other challenges include living in poverty, juggling work with caring responsibilities, and the COVID-19 pandemic"

It doesn't matter what I think, as I stated in my words that you quoted.

The point is that Starmer's messaging is not in alignment with his actions. < *this is a red flag when dealing with people*

He's not the saviour of Britain, he's JAFP

"Vote for us we'll look after the old people" ...and then go and take away a benefit that even though some may not need, there will be others that slip through the net, don't claim their full benefits entitlement out of ignorance, or pride, and will suffer during cold snaps.

At least the train drivers won't be cold this winter.

Unpaid carers is a horrible hidden problem.

Exacerbated by toxic PIP assessment and Universal credit system

False equivalence

There is an assumption that government is directly funding train drivers. They aren’t…..train drivers are paid by Train operating companies not govt.

The real scandal is the appalling contracts that were created when govt privatised the railways.

The TOCS (train operating Cos) make money whether there are strikes or not. TOCs make vast profits for their shareholders whilst ignoring infrastructure maintenance and squeezing pay for workers.
