Mick and Elton will need to come out of retirement, one more tour...Does anybody actually know a pensioner that will genuinely struggle without their heating allowance.
You might need to have a little think about what happens to us when we age.Why do you think that
for example, magically become
?
Only the very wealthy can afford to be illYou might need to have a little think about what happens to us when we age.
Let's take a "wealthy pensioner" couple with a £50k Pension, living in the South East in modest 3 bed semi worth 500k. Imagine one has a stroke and needs care. NHS funding will last 1 month. 2 carers needed 3 x a day help for 30 minutes, plus travel time. Let's add to that a cleaner, a gardener, someone to help with maintenance.. etc.
Not so wealthy now.

Mick and Elton don't need 200 quid from the tax payers.
Appeal to extremes fallacy.
80% of pensioners own their own homeIncluding the poorest in society.
It doesn't matter what I think, as I stated in my words that you quoted. Why do you think the taxpayer should give me £200?
80% of pensioners own their own home
They are not the poorest demographic in society
Unpaid carers is a horrible hidden problem. That's not an extreme. You should get out into the world a bit more and meet real people.
Data taken from 2021 census:
"Unpaid carers support many older people, and 20% of people aged 65 and older are unpaid carers themselves. Caring responsibilities can affect many aspects of a person's life, including their health, finances, mental wellbeing, and sleep. The most commonly reported challenge by unpaid carers is the impact of caring on physical and mental health. Other challenges include living in poverty, juggling work with caring responsibilities, and the COVID-19 pandemic"
False equivalenceIt doesn't matter what I think, as I stated in my words that you quoted.
The point is that Starmer's messaging is not in alignment with his actions. < *this is a red flag when dealing with people*
He's not the saviour of Britain, he's JAFP
"Vote for us we'll look after the old people" ...and then go and take away a benefit that even though some may not need, there will be others that slip through the net, don't claim their full benefits entitlement out of ignorance, or pride, and will suffer during cold snaps.
At least the train drivers won't be cold this winter.
And it doesn't mean they haven't. The PM is making tough decisions based on the mess he was left. This doesn't automatically mean they have loads of surplus cash.
