Smear Karma

So they worked hard, and scrimped and saved during 15% interest rates to put a roof over their head. Big deal.
This doesn't automatically mean they have loads of surplus cash.
That’s a different argument…..and what you say is false…you are trying to imply people now don’t scrimp and save. Not true, home ownership has gone down because ratio of house prices to wages has doubled

Fillyboy said “they are poorest in society”
People who have mortgage free homes are not the poorest in society

Families living in rented accommodation are the poorest

Pensioner poverty is now much lower compared to child poverty.

By the way U.K. pensioners are still badly off compared to most of Europe….we live in a country with terrible living stds across all age groups

You might need to have a little think about what happens to us when we age.

Let's take a "wealthy pensioner" couple with a £50k Pension, living in the South East in modest 3 bed semi worth 500k. Imagine one has a stroke and needs care. NHS funding will last 1 month. 2 carers needed 3 x a day help for 30 minutes, plus travel time. Let's add to that a cleaner, a gardener, someone to help with maintenance.. etc.

Not so wealthy now.
So they are rich, they have an asset worth £500k

Let’s compare to a working family stuck in rented accomodation, rent say £1500 a month
Wife is not working as a mother

Husband falls off his ladder at work….unable to work, can’t get bugger all in benefits, money runs out, family ends up homeless in 3 months and living in a car

Who is worst off, the with a £500k asset or the one without?

so they can stop British Gas from sending the bailiff's round?
If that's the case then a 200 quid handout isn't going to help. There are non pensioners who get into trouble as well, should they get the payment?

"Vote for us we'll look after the old people" ...and then go and take away a benefit that even though some may not need, there will be others that slip through the net,
If they're on Pension Credit, they'll get the winter fuel allowance.

And it doesn't mean they haven't. The PM is making tough decisions based on the mess he was left.
This is going to be Labour's ongoing version of the Tory excuse of "they left a note saying there was no money left"

No. Unless you think there is plenty of money and they just did it for the laughs.

Does anybody seriously think, and then want to demonstrate, how responsible the Tories were with the economy ?

Hopefully after this disaster the Conservative party will revert to the Conservative party rather than the idiots that have been in power for ages who delivered very little.
