Someone is trying to start a war in the Ukraine, It's NOT Russia (edit: yes it is)

Many in the Conservative party denounce Boris as a socialist

you mean nutters in the ERG.

Socialism is about a fairer society, Johnson has only ever increased inequality - his policies are designed for lots of luverly lolly going to his mates.

Look at my list of what is left-wing and what is right-wing in my post #46 on the "Shocking Scenes" thread. You will find that the present government fulfills all the left-wing definitions and none of the right. Just because it is called the Conservative Party doesn't mean it is actually conservative.

The current Conservative party is a right wing populist party - it’s driven by corruption, self interest, controlling the media, removing scrutiny and changing laws to remove public ability to protest.

Right wing populism shares features with fascism.

While some people claim the right is the left, others claim the left are responsible for the sleazy things done by the right... Summed up nicely here

I'd be surprised if Labour weren't up to their neck in it too tbh, along with the money from a lot of other dubious sources, like that recent case of the Labour MP being linked to a Chinese State agent... then you have all the Saudi money, Israeli money, etc etc...

We need transparency across the board with this.

I recall corbyn refusing to go to a dinner or meeting with trump

but than decided to attend some event to brown nose that Chinese president :)

Mind you Labour do have a history of flogging state secrets to the Russians ;)

would corbyn have supplied weapons to the ukraine

hmmmm

Corbyn would simply have gone to the IMF / World bank. His only concern was various utilities where competition isn't really working also infrastructure. Covid would mess up plans anyway.

What the country really needs is a balanced approach. It's rather tricky for any party to take a close look at that as some likely changes would not gain votes.

Latest from Ukraine. Signs of looting, violence in there and possible sex trafficking of refugees at the boarder. Countries getting overloaded and finding it harder to cope. It seems some expect to go back in a few weeks.

Putin accuses Ukraine fighters of doing a number of things that do go on in wars. West reply no proof. There wont be if they are either so pass.

A mayor kidnapped. Russian saboteurs/soldiers or insurgents. I added the insurgents as I have feeling there must be some around. Might explain the family being shot up trying to get out of a city but maybe they tried during a curfew. If that I would have thought it would be noted.

I saw footage of several dead Russian soldiers. 3, 2 mentioned out of shot. Western reporter. They were lying face down in snow.

Airport strike. Footage of a shoe factory which seems to be close by but no footage of the airport. Munition stores have been blown up,

Ukraine's covid resilience is low. No mention of that causing problems so far but more crowding.

Well this was a surprise

https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/russian-state-tv-launches-stinging-26441095

I wonder if the story has some spin on it?

Or if something is going on?

"Russian state TV guests have criticised the invasion of Ukraine and now risk the wrath of Vladimir Putin by publicly condemning the war him on a huge primetime show.

"Anti-war protestors have been gathering in their thousands across Russian cities following the invasion of their neighbouring country, with many seeing Ukrainians as their brothers.

"Authorities in Russia have threatened those who criticise the war efforts face being put in jail for up to 15 years and will be treated as traitors.

However, with state media having backed the Ukrainian invasion, most Russians appear to seemingly be in support - and it is Putin’s power and influence over journalists and the press that has allowed him to rule without any significant opposition."

"Now, though, on a programme hosted by Vladimir Soloviyev, a staunch supporter of Putin’s regime, guests openly criticised the attack on Ukraine with one saying it was like “Afghanistan but even worse.”

The use of Afghanistan as an example is significant in Russia as it is seen as a military humiliation - with the country having spent 10 years in the country before withdrawing in 1989.

Shakhbnazarov did toe the country’s line that the war was caused by the United States but he said that a “humanitarian disaster” would also see Russia’s allies like China and India distancing themselves."

"The suffering of one group of innocents does not compensate for the suffering of other innocent people... I don’t see the probability of denazification of such an enormous country. We would need to bring in 1.5 million soldiers to control all of it.”

He added: “The most important thing in this scenario is to stop our military action.”

Shakhbnazarov did toe the country’s line that the war was caused by the United States but he said that a “humanitarian disaster” would also see Russia’s allies like China and India distancing themselves."

"The host, who is one the Russians to have been sanctioned by the EU and has had an Italian villa seized, was left annoyed by the analysis but other guests were also critical.

Semyon Bagdasarov, a Russian Middle East expert, agreed with Shakhbnazarov and said that Russians need to prepare for “total isolation”.

He drew the parallels with Afghanistan saying: “Let Ukrainians do this denazification on their own. We can’t do it for them... As for their neutrality, yes, we should squeeze it out of them, and that’s it."

you are comparing what, in your imagination, you think Corbin might have done

with what, in reality, our Conservative rulers did do.

If you look you will find that the Iraq war caused the largest demo - did a lot of good didn't it?

As usual the link tells us something that all are aware of.

:ROFLMAO:Did that not involve winning an election? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: To achieve something else. Did that relate to the EU?

Has the idea been mentioned before - yes long ago and not by them.

Something like 14000 have already been arrested in Russia. How many arrests did we make, probably very few because wen have the right to peaceful protest.

If you are referring to the 'Stop the War' demos in London... None of those people had skin in the game. None of them were hungry, none had conscript children dying at the front.

The Poll Tax riots had a different outcome, and, for comfy UK, are a better comparison.
