Someone is trying to start a war in the Ukraine, It's NOT Russia (edit: yes it is)

It has been reported now and it seems the debate in the Kremlin was broadcast. ;) Looked a bit more civilised than PM questions. The correct term is recognised them as independent states.

The implications seems to be that these 2 states can request Russian military assistance if they want it.

I wonder what Zelenskyy will feel about this. NATO obviously wont recognise them. Putin may be offering them a way out and other aspects not mentioned may figure in it.

C4 reported a little different. Recognising these states has been discussed. Announcing them yet to come but it depends which of their reporters is speaking.. Boris also said effectively saying that Russia is recognising them. Little different to has.

Yet another change - Putin has just signed the paperwork so he has announced it. The areas contains 4m people - or so it seems.

My source was spot on.
My source also states the news was leaked several hours ago around Russia and this ties
in with reports that the tv appearance by Putin and Co was not live as claimed but recovered several hours earlier.

What will be more difficult to justify moving into the parts of Dmbas that is not under pro-Russian control

I cannot see Ukraine doing anything about it. There is a chance of taking the rest of Dombas and the other bit and the time to do that is within 48 hours or not for the near future. Source cites reason for this is what I have touched on before EG, Russian troop are ****ed off and worse still their battalion leads and they lack food/vodka and cigarettes and heating and clothing and are ****ed off and ready to go back to their base camps

The little guy in France with the ace wife has been made to look like the biggest laughing stock of the decade

An amusing thought, but as you should be aware, Putin's communication team are masters of misinformation and confusion, and employ thousands of live and bot trolls,, some of them attacking this very site.

I am particularly amused by your suggestion that hardened soldiers on active service are in the habit of deciding which orders they will obey, and of deserting when they disagree with what they have been told.

I believe this is not the case as it will lead to eventual peace. Almost 9 years of fights with up to 20k dead on both sides, time for peace and love.
Worst case short term outcome the take the rest of Dmbas and Lukas or whatever they call it after that relative peace.

I have a feeling you may have that wrong also certain other EU leaders being involved. :mrgreen: Have to wait and see but if it happens the deal will be obvious. Zelensky needs something that make him look good for it all to end "cleanly". Going on police training that was shown Ukraine really did mean to invade these republicks

So after 32 pages..The title of this thread is in fact entirely wrong. Russia is starting a war with Ukraine.
