Someone is trying to start a war in the Ukraine, It's NOT Russia (edit: yes it is)

Read about, heard about it many times re Black and Asian people being mistreated at the border of Poland

Yep the whole area doesn't see many black faces so is pretty racist. I've seen it while over there. I'm surprised the BBC sent Clive Myrie.

Reading TASS, there's negociating going on and an expectation that it'll be over withing a few days and Russia is after key areas:
"For Russia, it is extremely important to liberate not only Donbass from the occupying forces of the Kiev regime, but also the entire left bank of Ukraine, as well as its Black Sea regions. Dnepr, Zaporozhye, Mariupol, Odessa, Ochakov, Nikolaev, Kherson, and other cities that have industrial and defense enterprises essential to the Russian Federation. If they are controlled by Moscow, this means that Russia has defeated the West and taken its Slavic partner out of the sphere of influence of the United States and NATO,"

Moldova, just along the coast, is sensitive to their position - doesn't want to be sanctioned by West while getting along with Russia.

Those prices have a way to fall yet.
What I wonder is this, are we seeing a genuine (and long lasting) rooting out of 'the bad' Russian money and those behind it, or once the dust settles x years from now, will it start to creep back in.

And what about the dodgy money swilling about in our economic system from other less than desirable countries? Is anything being done about that?

I'm mixed race and have darkish skin. I was going to go to Poland a few years back to a theme/amusement park they have. Some folk suggested I shouldn't bother as could find myself subject to racist taunts. I might still have gone but was intending to go with my young nephew so decide to leave it.

Pity.

I think we'll see some changes to legislation and some tightening up, but realistically, there will always be billionaires with ill gotten gains and there will always be somewhere to park that money.

Agreed. Part of the swamp ...

That is sad, I lived in a large Polish community once and didn't notice any behaviour like that.

Tbh I could prob pass as being a few different nationalities ;) and chances are I'd not experience any difficulties, however the older I'm getting the more I tend to err on the side of caution. I'm sure if sticking to the main tourist attractions and areas it would generally be fine.

Yes, you can tell by the football supporters. Englands thugs are bad but go to one of these eastern countries, the racist hooligans are at the next level.

Ukraine has a lot of racists, over ones and the gov I read tried to integrate them, educate them. Every country has racists and Putin is playing on the facts but bigged them up. You have racists in Scotland that hate white/English people more than they hate Pakistanis and in Wales, the racists are equally nasty to the English as people of a different colour to them Having said that when comparing Scotland/Wales they are much less racist some of the eastern, ex eastern block countries. England is like Canada on the whole, good at integration.

East of ukriane both elements the ones on the fringe are as bad as each other and like any good politician and his 85-year-old sidekick the FM, they beat all racists handsdown as they are not racists but worse.

Has anyone else noted that TASS appears to be wavering at the fringes and posting items that do not totally go against Putin but give those reading it a hint of what is really going on
