surface-to-air missiles

A buddy of mine who used to race in several amateur challenges.. and did rather well, had the opportunity to accompany one of his customers who is a Cheshire Police driver on a mock pursuit. Initially My pal was rather blasé at what in his opinion was a rather starched and regimented style of driving but had changed his mind by the end. He explained to me that not only was it an issue of safely controlling the car but also he was blown away at the sheer amount of data the driver had to process to work out his best options as he drove. Driving a track is relatively simple but add other traffic, oncoming and on side roads, pedestrians, crossings, animals and everything else that is on the road and the quantity of data and the number of decisions that a police driver has to process every day is stunning.

I think Skyboy should read the above and maybe go on a Class one course.
Then he might have a better understanding.

Indeed - so are we actually saying its too dangerous because thats what I am saying. There are too many variables. Too many hazzards and too many risks..

No, what is being said is that they are amazing well trained and are the best people for the job. There will always be an odd incident. Take Ayrton Senna for instance. But they are the ones we rely on to catch the offenders and as safely as possible.
As I said try a IAM course or a class one. Do a Police motorcycling course. It really teaches you things you never knew existed. Even racers have said this.
Road awareness is a great advantage when used on track. Or did you not notice mirrors on the clio`s mentioned I assume you race?

Back on topic.
Seems living in some posh flats in London is risky.
Nice work for the roofers if they do let one or two of those missiles off.

I would have thought there were enough possible launch sites in and around London rather than using tower blocks for them.
Wembley has the old WWII placements. Then there is Primrose Hill. Going south Bexley Heath and several sites near the "Dome". Then the Greenwich sites and the old "Arsenal".
All far better than a tower block with the local lads having keys to all the lift and loft access doors and or hatches.

Take a course, RoSPA is the best option

I would have thought the Jubilee line was the one to watch as it runs across the city from Uxbridge way to Stratford.
Then RPG`s and suicide bombers on the other converging lines. Especially the unmanned city link.
I wonder if the keywords here have sparked a GCHQ computer to life?

When I used to drive heavies I got into the habit of keeping a running commentary in my head of what was going on around me (A bit like they advocate in the IAM drivers manual) and keep an inventory of vehicles approaching from the rear and mentally marking them off as they went past me (If the car aint still behind me and he ain't gone past me then he must be in my blind spot) and at a maximum of 90kph on the motorway that was tough enough... It is a pity that the know it all boy racer who I'm sure felt that he was Ayrton Senna didnt see the rear of my 44 tonner as he emerged into the traffic from a slip road at a speed high enough to fold my rear bumper under the trailer and peel off the roof from his car

I would hope so!

Anyway all that stuff is a total security nightmare and I take my hat of to the guys making the preparations, I hope that is all they need to do...Make preparations. If they wanted to stick a SAM battery on my roof and park a helicopter in my garden then that would be fine with me, I'd supply the tea and bikkies.

The eyes of the world will be upon us and it is up to us to prove that Britain has still got it. Our future depends on it.

Now lets get all these dole scroungers picking up litter and removing graffiti

3 in the car, 2 dead just out driving like jerks like I think a lot of us did when we were young and dumb.
