What actual evidence is there to support capital punishment as a deterrent to murder?

Nearly all paedophiles were once the victim of paedophiles.
Just a thought BAS whats your feeling on our lads in Iraq and Afghanistan, they are killing in our name, and through no fault of theirs many innocent people die.

Well you would think they would know better then, wouldn't you?
Twas exactly the same in NI, hence the legal requirement to carry a "yellow card" at all times, which gave precise instructions on rules of engagement; every round fired also had to be accounted for (well, let me see, he shot at me, so I fired back at his torso, then another one opened up, so I fired two at his head..but there are six rounds gone, where were the other three fired? Hmmm...dunno Sarge). Only thing is, you don't tend to have much opportunity to read it when there's a contact...And on that note, it is exactly why I decided not to join the forces after being accepted and passing the medical etc.
They are training you to become an effective killer and then sent to a warzone, but if an inocent bystander gets injured accidentally, you are liable to be prosecuted.
That is just plain wrong IMO, you should be supported by your country for placing your own life on the line to defend it and it's people, not sent to jail for manslaughter!

Shame it wasn't Bernard Matthews, for crimes against the food industryRyan Matthews in 2004 after serving 5 years.
Is that an accusation that you would level at all forces personnel then, Joe?You just wanted an excuse to go out and kill people without the risk of a prison term. How sick are you, Buddy?

If it is such a great deterrent then please explain why states in the US that HAVE the death penalty have a HIGHER murder rate than those that DON'T.
