The Tories have a new leader ...

Very few farms will be affected

The law change is to close a loophole……the people moaning the loudest like Clarkson are the same people that benefit from the loophole

“Paul Johnson, the director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), an independent economy think-tank, told Sky News: "The changes will affect a remarkably small number of some of the most valuable farms."

He added: "[Farms are] still more generously treated, actually, than farms used to be in decades past."

The Treasury estimates that 500 farms will be affected by the agricultural property relief reform, external.

Dan Neidle, an independent tax expert, says the real number of farms, external likely to be affected could be below 500 per year.”

your tribalism is hilarious.

We’ve just had 14 years of zero growth and destruction of public services due to Tories….yet here you are depressed because the U.K. now has a Labour govt.

If you bothered to look at history you would see the last Labour govt was pretty good, much better than the Tory period we’ve had since.
But he is admitting the Tories have gone too far to the right

Complete exemption afaik,
your just listening to noises without data - an example

Get an IFS opinion which also explains why the limit is likely to be £2m+

Conservatives welcome to your new leader, even more sh1t than the last leader :ROFLMAO:

Fact is any democracy needs an effective opposition

Neither am I in favour of any government with a massive majority

There is more actually. From the budget summary - most useful one to look at
–Full (100%) relief will continue to apply up to a £1 million limit for the value of assets claimed under these reliefs, jointly.
Above this, there will be a new, reduced 50% relief.
–Business property relief (BPR) on AIM (formerly the Alternative Investment Market) and other “not listed” shares will be reduced from 100% to 50%, and will not count towards the cap

So what was the tax rate relief before?

Nothing in there on IHT history for agricultural estates

They could have helped farmers out by introducing visas for east europe...............
LOL Edit - the farming related visas are s6ill available and have been for some time now. No law change needed.

. That would help sustain profitability for the industry and the smaller farmers.

What about all these young men sitting around kicking their heels in Holiday Inns? Couldn't they earn their keep by bringing in the harvest?

Or are they all doctors and nuclear physicists? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

We've already done black chancellor. So more than likely a similar disaster ahead.

Liberals on here must be in a real quandry. New leader is ethnic minority, but other hand poss right wing. :giggle:

Tying themselves up in more knots than usual. :ROFLMAO:
