They Shoot Horses, don't they?

It is why I am not in favour of the bill. It delivers nothing of value but will place a burden on doctors, the family court and make people waste money and time they don't have, applying for a "divorce from life".
You would be in favour of the bill if Conservatives had done brought the bill in.

So let them suffer instead.

People should have the choice, in advance. Simple
so give them 12 months, use a simple consent form (like people do with risky surgery) get it checked and witnessed by an independent medical expert and no need to have it sealed by a high court judge.

No I would support the bill if the need for the family court was removed, the definition of terminal illness was amended to be broader and the 6 months to live was extended to 12. Preferably more. If found out I had MND I would not want the Stephen Hawking experience. But I may change my mind when living it.

Very high doses are given but on a medical basis to deal with pain, not with the sole aim of death, and death can still take days because the human body varies and is remarkably resilient even at the end
"I'm going to put you on a pathway that will cause you to die within five days."

This is not officially called Euthenasia.

Not in my experience.

The existing system is open to abuse and needs regulated.
what system?

We have laws, prosecutor guidelines, clear definitions of what is legal and what is illegal. If you are right that lethal doses of drugs are widespread in palliative care, then I'd expect to see some evidence. Not an ask to find it, just in general.

If someone is dying giving them food and water to try to build their strength up can simply give them a horrible death, choking on the infection that resulted in food or water ingested at a time when it could not be processed.

what system?
The ad hoc one of state sponsored murder sometimes, or "just enough" morphine sometimes, or sometimes not enough morphine. All of which needs no input from the patient or relatives.

Or the removal of food and water until someone eventually dies. There must be a better way.

Not what I witnessed. But there does come a time when food and water could be bad for the dying person.

You support the proposals with a change in the controls. I don't think we are far apart on this.

Blup seems opposed to it whatever the controls. I think.

I disagree, for you everything Tory good, everything Labour bad
