Hi - wet and windy Saturday task - repairing a toaster. I have got so far in taking the cover off but the lever covers are stopping the cover coming off. I have trid pulling them off but they don’t move - any other ideas? Thanks. Morphy Richards toaster

Try pulling harder! :giggle:
Actually, it looks as though the small dents in the sides of the knobs could be effectively riveting them on to the levers, so removal might require use of a small angle grinder.

The slider on the left hand slots (most used) is getting really stiff. I wanted to take the cover off to see if crumbs or just dirt were making it stiff and clean if needed. From what I can see of the mechanism there is nothing particularly visible

If this is a hole then there maybe a catch that can be released by pushing a small screw driver into the hole.

Thanks - I saw that and have put a small screwdriver in but can’t work out any kind of catch to release. Strangely though there was a little bit of movement after I did this. Think putting back together, admitting defeat and a new toaster is the best option!

Really annoying situation now! One is off - I can see a little catch that must have been holding it in place. Can’t get the other one to budge - have put a small screwdriver in the slot and ‘manipulated’ the plastic but still won’t move!
