The most recent government figures estimate there are 200,000-500,000 transgender people in the UK.

With a population of UK at 66,000,000
That suggests that there are about 3% of 66,000,000 transgenders in UK. That's nearly 2,000,000 transgenders, between 4 and 10 times the government's estimates.
If we extrapolate that to the global population, that's about 250,000,000 transgenders, 5 times more than my earlier estimates!

What makes you think politicians are behind it?

Politicians make laws. It's what they do. They can have rather distinct views which personally I think is a bit sad. Not that this matters in this case which is why the subject crops up.

What does this mean
believe that biological sex cannot be replaced with self-declared gender identity, and that women have the right to access single-sex sports, spaces and services such as prisons and domestic abuse refuges.

So you have a trans. The have a biological sex as they are born. They change. Does that mean that they can switch which same sex sports group they join as well? Same question with other areas. Prisons for instance do need some sort of definition that currently is lacking or may be. The person who is locked up will have their own thoughts. The people in there may have others. The law will just want a rule to use.

One of the problems with this style of reporting is that it just chooses one party to comment on. No mention of others. Tory Penny expressed very firm views on exactly the same subject. They will be treated according to their so called biological sex. No ifs or buts. It went down well with the people she was talking too - her supporters.

The area that disturbs me relates to various social media and influencers aimed at kids who may be having life problems for all sorts of reasons. This sort of thing can result in fashions forming. Fashions form due to people copying ideas from each other. Even suicide figures of late.
