Putin will never stop unless he can get some kind of win. So you carry on until someone bumps him off or he dies or you find some way for him to have a token win. For Ukraine not being able to join the EU or NATO maybe they have to pick one in exchange for the other.

I think 2015 map and ukrain being allowed to join NATO might be where they end up. Trump won’t be a fan of them joining the EU, that will take years anyway.
Another option would be the seized land to be some sort of demilitarised zone independent from both.

What would force Putin's hand? Make it clear that any Russian soldier in Ukraine is facing death - including supply lines.. Europe is far wealthier than Russia, even though France and Germany and the uk(??) are in the sh1t. So is Russia, though it's a more closed economy and backed by China etc.. Europe can afford to do that if it wants to. USA would help. There is precedent - called Lend-Lease.
