I think political parties should be funded by the state and private donations banned.

MPs are paid by the state, they used to be funded privately which led to massive corruption.
State funding wouldn't eradicate political corruption but might reduce the incentive to prioritise the interests of large donors.

Trump's tariffs will also cause American consumers to pay more for their imported goods.

Donalds strategy appears to be, that by putting tarrifs on cheap Chinese tat, it will make cheap Chinese tat expensive Chinese tat, therefor, Americans won't want expensive Chinese tat and will be incentivised to make their own cheap tat.

Manufacturing will return to America and Americans will start turning out their own tat, the problem is the Western standard of living is based on cheap labour abroad manufacturing cheap goods for Western countries, this gives the illusion of prosperity and if these sources of cheap labour are removed, things wil no longer be so cheap.
 
Our democracy are intending to delay local elections by at least a year on the basis of council mergers taking place, the areas affected are predominantly areas where Reform are expected to perform well.
Reform should welcome unitary authorities with elected mayors, it gives them a real prospect of power at local level. Maybe that’s what they're afraid of.
Our democracy are looking at changing electoral law in a way that prevents overseas citizens giving donations to political parties because of talk Musk pay give Reform a few quid.
