Ukraine President Getting Desperate

I was talking about having a referendum in the disputed region.

Putin disputes the entire Ukrainian nation.

He claims it belongs to Russia and does not have the right to self-determination.

That's why he is having a war against Ukraine and has invaded it.

Fair enough, so what do reckon the answer is, given that a large proportion of Russian speakers in Ukraine are unhappy with the present Ukranian regime.
What should their fate be.

Is that large proportion including the 200,000 odd Russian and Belarusian troops that are shooting, shelling and starving the Ukrainian population?

You are constantly attacking various posters with your nonsense but nothing to back it up with and you ignore the basic principles of politics, ie divide and rule and this is what the west/UK/Putin/usa were doing with the ukriane - the west wanted Ukraine in their pocket and putin in his and the people of ukriane get hit just like Libya and Iraq both cesspits now and syria on its way to being a cesspit.

they always were cesspits ;)

Why don't they have one now and let the people speak for themselves, if these people decide they are happy as part of Ukraine, then that would give the Ukranian government the legitimacy it lacks.
After 8 years of Russian control, it still wouldn't be a fair referendum, and it wouldn't be accepted by Ukraine, to whom that region belongs.
How could Ukraine organise a referendum in a region that is controlled by Russia?
Russia would again refuse to allow international observers in to oversee the referendum.

5.5 million Scots are unhappy with UK government, but they haven't started a war.
