Update on newbie doing Drive belt progress, need further help please

Double check the belt route.....easy to get it wrong!
John :)
hi mate
I have done thanks , it is an easy routing on these cars everything is 100 % right. I put the belt on after replacing and the car was running fine 2 days ago I didn't drive anywhere as waiting for tensioner to arrive, not even sure it needs a new one but change it anyway due to bad noise in drive belt area could be this the tensioner causing it.

So after putting the old tensioner back on after taking it off to inspect it and after putting the same belt back on the belt seems massive, the belt is not tight at all it is extremely slack. why is this after installing the same belt + tensioner ? these are self adjusting apparently , it just feels as though I got tension pulled all way off belt + more even though the tension is released

I ALWAYS draw a quick picture of the belt run around the pulleys before removing any serpentine belt.

Only two reasons - you’ve either put the belt or the tensioner back on wrong. Can’t be anything else.

Yes that's what I was thinking but I have the belt on 100 % right, like it was on the other day and I got the belt on perfect with great tension.

Also the tensioner bolt to hold it to the car I put it back on very tight it feels it won't go tighter. I don't see how it could be the tensioner as it is in as tight as can be ,

only thing when the tensioner was off I took it in the house and tried to lock it in place using a ratchet but I don't think I got it to move at all, whereas on the car you can move
Is it possible I may have partially loked in the tension ? I haven't inserted anything to lock it in I only tried to get ti to move with ratchet while it was in the house to lock it in but dodn't move as far as I know of

thanks you friend !

One comment......if a tensioner or guide isn’t grooved, the belt runs on the back of it.
John :)
I only took the tensioner off and put it back on, everything is the same as it was when I put the belt on the other day I only took tensioner off to inspect it. I haven't removed and guies or pulleys other than the tensioner which si now back on but why does the belt now seem massively too big ?

There is a lug on the back that sits in a certain hole as well as the bolt.
hi mate
is the tensioner pulley have to slot into something on the engine as well ? I just wnet out to have another look now and when I feel with my finger behind it I can feel a gap but the bolt is as tight as it can be, is the tenisoner supposed to sit flush with the engine or should there be a small gap there ?
I really am confused, the belt is on perfectly 100 % but now after taking tensioner off and putting it back on the belt looks far far too big but it is the same belt I put on perfectly fine the other day when fitting it only after taking tensioner off and trying to refit belt afterward after putting trnsioner back on has the problem started.

please help thank you

Look from 3.30 on video

hi
thank you !!

will the tensioner on my car have a lug or whatever it is called onit as well that slots into the engine ? I did not see that earleir but did feel a gap at the back of the tensioner it was not flush with the engine. In that case would that cause the belt to be slack ??
